Participated in IUs School of Education Cultural Immersion Project. Completed 12 graduate credits and honed teaching skills in two different teaching environments. Point Chevalier Primary, Auckland, New Zealand October-December 2012 10 week placement teaching a year 5/6 general education classroom. Taught 3 different levels of math groups, created and taught a science unit on electricity, planned and implemented a writing unit on creating picture books Adapted to the New Zealand education system that called for higher flexibility creation and implementation Implemented technology, multiple assessments assessment, literacy, math manipulatives, and other artifacts to engage verbal, visual, and kinesthetic learners Utilized classroom management techniques and balance of time Facilitated student led conferences (students explained to parents what they had been learning and why they were learning it)
