Man-Made Pollution
Another way our waters get polluted is from unnatural pollutants, in other words man-made pollution. Chemicals that are man-made are extremely damaging if put into our waters. Since they aren't natural they are much more difficult to clean from the waters. This kind of pollution occurs when people litter and dump garbage, chemicals and non biodegradable

Human Waste
Over 200 billion tons of human waste is dumped into our waters yearly. This kind of waste is the most common kind of water pollution because its a reoccurring problem. Because of the state of this problem many developed countries have made

sewer systems to treat sewage and prevent it form going into the waters. In addition these systems also treat the sewage. And remove all the solids Unfortunately many undeveloped countries

It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it. -Dan Quayle

Interview: Today we are fortunate to have the well-known water expert Dr. Shprintza Yenta Fruma Ginesha here to answer some of our questions. I, Loona Lovegood, will be interviewing her and asking her all of our most puzzling questions on water pollution. What would you say are some of the main causes of water pollution? Thank G-d we are all blessed with many clean water sources However water pollution is a serious problem in todays societies. A main source of water pollution unfortunately would have to be human waste. Over 200 billion tons of human waste is dumped into our waters yearly. So it is definitely one of the top contributors to water pollution. How are some developing countries affected by water pollution? It is extremely unfortunate what is happening in some developing countries. Third world countries like Africa and Sudan are affected greatly by water pollution. Some water illnesses still exist in places like this and many people die from it every day. What can we do to try and stop water pollution? we are able to do many things in order to prevent water pollution. For one thing by simply using less water in our daily activities we are lessening the amount of water that is wasted. By turning off the sink while you are brushing your teeth or while you are scrubbing your hands you are saving valuable clean water. How does littering and other pollution affect the aquatic life in the area? Well when you throw garbage and other trash into the water it is like someone dumping garbage in your home. You would not be able to live in conditions like that and neither are the animals. When unnatural objects like wrappers cans and plastic end up in the water it can not only harm the animals but it could kill them as well. If they consume or get stuck to the trash it can really do serious damage. By picking up and garbage you see lying around and disposing of it properly you are preventing that garbage from ending up in an animals home or stomach. Why are oil spills so difficult to clean up? Oils spills are a tricky kind of water pollution simply because it spreads. It will spread throughout the water and pollute more of the water faster than any other kind of pollutant. However there are ways to keep the oil in one spot of the ocean so that other methods can be used to clean up just that area. If an animal swims through the polluted water it will be covered with the slimy black oil and wont be able to swim or sometimes even breathe. It is very hard for the animals to clean the oil off of themselves. People and volunteers try and save animals in these situations and help clean them and then release them back into the wild.
