Totes
by Gay Merrill Gross THE ART OF ORIGAMI

Determine the finished size tote you would like to make. Cut the fabric or paper twice the width and three times the height. This is a general rule. You can adjust the dimension to meet any proportions. Try a wide, shorter tote or a taller tote with a 'lunch bag' style folded top. This tote design is partcularly strong because of its one piece construction with the joins at the side. Make use of the florals for Spring and holiday prints in Winter. Be brave, try eyelet with ribbons for a wedding or bridesmaid gifts. Make ahead for the holidays in all sizes. At Christmas choose sparkling fabrics and metallic cords for handles, decorate with ribbons and ornaments. Make tiny totes as a tree ornament or for jewelry. One of the most popular tote proportions is tall and narrow. It makes a wonderful wine carrier for a dinner hostess.
