Japanese Pronouns Japanese pronouns are important in formal conversations but when youre talking to close friends you

dont have to use them. In the ( ) will be the Kanji form, or the form used the most. -Pronouns - I Pronouns -Watashi () - Formal for males and regular for females -Boku () Used by boys that are still in school, used with kimi -Ore () Used by men talking to their buddies, shows how manly they are -Atashi () Informal way to say Watashi, only used by females -Ware (/) Very formal/most polite for saying I, written form - You Pronouns -Anata () Used by females regularly to their husband/boyfriend, formal for males -Kimi () Used by males and females still in school, used with boku -Anta () Used with who you are familiar with - He/She Pronouns -Ano Kata () Very formal, means that person over there -Kare () literally means boyfriend, used as he -Kanojo () literally means girlfriend, used as she - Pronouns Plural Suffixes *All these suffixes are used the same way (To make pronoun plural) - ~Tachi (~) Ex: We = - ~Kata/Gata (~) More polite than ~Tachi - ~Domo (~) Humble but may be rude sometimes - ~Ra (~/) Informal, used mostly when hostile
