North Avondale Montessori Schools new $14.4-million, 85,470-square-foot building embraces the Montessori teaching philosophy and returns the school to its home campus.

Outdoor Learning Spaces 1 A green roof, accessible to students, grows vegetation in trays overlooking an open courtyard area, to enhance the Montessori concept of linking lessons to nature. Cafetorium 2 A curved stage area turns the schools lunchroom into a performance area; the opposite side of the stage opens into the gymnasium. Art Gallery 3 North Avondales spacious entrance lobby provides lighted display areas for student artwork.

Extended Learning Areas 4 Students read outside the classroom in one of the buildings open areas designed to give teachers space for innovation. Media Center 5 Sunlight streaming through a corner window wall brightens this room for reading books and learning computer skills.
