Work History:

Summary of Experience:
During the spring of 2013 I completed 100 hours (3 units) of supervised preschool practicum at the Columbia College Child Care Center. As part of my course requirements, I designed and implemented activities, designed a learning center, completed child observations and an ECERS, and designed a parent newsletter. Highlights and photographs of all my practicum activities are featured in my teaching portfolio, at the web address listed above. While completing my practicum hours I was offered a paid position as a student teacher. As a student teacher, I rotated between the preschool and toddler center during the spring of 2013. During the summer of 2013, I will work 30 hours per week at the preschool, and will play an integral role in designing and implementing our summer curriculum plans as well as organizing primary care groups and setting group and individual goals based on DRDPs. During the spring of 2012, I volunteered at the Twain Harte Head Start preschool as well as participated in several early literacy events throughout Tuolumne County such as Read Across America and Jamestown Elementary Schools Family Literacy Night. I also volunteered in a first grade classroom, helping the teacher with classroom projects and leading story time. As part of my coursework at Columbia College, I have taken 12 units of Early Childhood Education, including Intro to Child Development, Books for Young Children, Child, Family & Community, and Preschool Practicum. I am enrolled in and will complete Teaching in a Diverse Society in June 2013. I have also taken several psychology and sociology classes, including General Psychology and Sociology of the Family, which have given me a deeper understanding of the many factors that influence the development of the child and the school environment.
