SAFETY AND HEALTH STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT

Safety is important to Emerson and all of its divisions for two reasons: First, we, believe that our people are our greatest resource and, as such, deserve our commitment to their safety and health. Second, we know that safety is good, sound business practice. Accidents cause human suffering, property damage, reduced efficiency, and morale problems. Accidents decrease Company profits directly through increased medical, compensation and insurance costs and, indirectly through lost productivity and absenteeism. The management of Emerson recognizes the need to provide our employees with a place of employment that is safe from injury and conducive to health. To that end, we pledge to give our immediate attention to conditions or activities that may cause injuries or illnesses until those conditions are satisfactorily alleviated. It is our belief that no safety program can be effective without the complete support and cooperation of those at every level of the organization -from the newest employee to the most senior manager. Because we value our employees and strive to enhance both productivity and quality, while controlling costs, we will naturally expect everyone in the Company to assume accountability for applying our safety guidelines correctly and consistently. Management pledges to provide facilities and equipment that meet appropriate safety standards, and provide the communication and training vehicles necessary to promote effectiveness among our staff members. Our goals are to have every employee: willingly fulfill his or her responsibilities toward safety; actively support our safety efforts; comply with all established rules and procedures; participate in safety-related activities and programs; and actively seek ways to eliminate hazardous behaviors or conditions that could result in injury.
