PHD IN AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL INNOVATION (WITH COURSEWORK)

Introduction This is a new Programme. The purpose of the programme is to build capacity of countries in Tanzania and in the region for analysing and influencing agricultural and rural development by facilitating a deeper and holistic understanding of the complexities in agricultural and rural development in the African context. Target audience The target audience for the programme is professionals and practitioners in universities, research, extension, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and policy development institutions that need high level innovative and analytical capabilities. Program duration The programme duration will be for three academic years for full time students and four years for part time students. The first year will be devoted to course work and the last two to three years will be for research. Applicants qualification A candidate seeking admission to the programme must hold a Masters degree with minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent, in areas of Agricultural Education and Extension, Community Development, Rural Development, Rural Extension Studies and Rural Economy, or any other relevant Masters degree with equivalent standing from a recognized university, and with a good command of the English language. Candidates with GPA of less than 3.0 may be considered provided they demonstrate strong practical experience or additional training in the relevant field. Alternatively, candidates may be required to take and pass remedial courses to make up for any deficiency in their qualifications.
