QUESTION 1

QUESTION 2 A 345 kV, three phase transmission line is XXX km long (XXX = last 3 digits of Student ID). The resistance per phase is 0.05 /km and the inductance per phase is 1 mH per km. The shunt capacitance is 0.2 F/km. The receiving end of the load is 300 MVA at 300 kV. Use the necessary line model to evaluate the results such as voltage regulation and effciency as the power factor changes from XX lagging to unity to XX leading (XX = last 2 digits of student ID). Write a MATLAB program to re-evaluate the results. QUESTION 3 Using a XXX MVA base, each of the three transmission lines have an impedance of 0.05 + j0.01 pu. There is a single 180 MW load at bus 3, while bus 2 is a PV bus with generation of 80 MW and 150 MVAR and a voltage setpoint of 1.0 pu. Bus 1 is the system slack with a voltage setpoint of 1.0 pu. Solve this case using MATLAB and using both Gauss Siedel and Newton Raphson method. Evaluate the results in terms of the number of iterations required to acquire the voltage at bus 2 and bus 3. Also, suggest possible ways of reducing the number of iterations (if too much iteration is required to acquire the final answer). The XXX represents the last 3 digits of the student ID.
