Dear People of God,

Greetings in the sweet Name of Jesus Our Lord.
Ezra 9:9 says as follows: - For we were bondmen, yet our God has not forsaken us in our
bondage; but hath extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a
reviving , to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to
give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
This is the story of how the children of God who were in bondage, found favour in the sight
of Persian kings Cyrus and Darius to getting back to their land to build the ruined of the
wall and buildings.
Humanity takes things that are glorious and ruins them, but God takes what is ruined and
makes it glorious. The church of Christ is all about pursuing the will of God and seeing ruins
come to life as peoples lives are changed for Gods purposes as we see day by day.
Because of sin, our lives and this world fell into ruins. God created Adam to have fellowship
with HIM. Because of his sin we all became something less than glorious, we became slaves
to sin, but God did not forsake us in our bondage. Instead he extended mercy to us to
rebuild our ruined lives worthy of His Spirit to dwell.
In life we make choices and decisions that can lead to ruined credibility, reputations,
character, relationships, finances, potential and opportunities- but when we bring to God
what is broken and made desolate He brings beauty to it.
God is a builder, He builds peoples lives. Jesus gave his life for the church to restore lives,
relationship and the church to an even greater glory than ever before. He is asking us to
build HIS church (not buildings).
We have physical buildings for one reason for us to gather to worship HIM. It is not the
building that is glorious; what is glorious to God is what the building holds.
I pray that we as a Fellowship will grow, expand and more importantly care about what God
cares about; seeing lives that are in ruins being made glorious.
Blessings.
Yours in His Service

Pastor Srikanthan

The task of evangelism often includes telling our individual story along with the larger
gospel story. Weaving the two together makes for a powerful articulation of Gods gracious
work through all times and his specific salvific work in an individual heart namely, yours.
Many have supported their emphasis on sharing a personal testimony by pointing out that
Paul did so numerous times in the book of Acts. In Acts 26, for example, Paul tells Agrippa
about his Damascus Road experience with the hopes that he, along with all who were
listening to him may become what I am, except for these chains (Acts 26:29).
As an encouragement for us to follow Pauls model, some have argued, People cant
dismiss your personal testimony because its your story. They cant deny it.
Im all for people sharing their personal testimony. But a bit more careful thought needs to
shape the process.
It is worth noting that Paul did not merely share his subjective, personal experience. He
wove together that story with the more objective, universal Gospel story that must be
proclaimed to all people. Paul crafted a dual-themed masterpiece that spoke of his unique
encounter with Jesus along with these objective propositions:
- Pauls hope is what God had promised the fathers (Acts 26:6-7)
- Pauls message included the fact that conversion (anyones!) is from darkness to
light, from the power of Satan to God, involves forgiveness from sins, and leads to
sanctification (Acts 26:18)
- People must repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds
(Acts 26:20)
- This message is in line with the prophets and Moses (Acts 26:22)
- The crux of the matter is not Pauls subjective experience but the objective truth that
Christ suffered and rose from the dead (Acts 26:23)
So, as we consider sharing our testimony, we should, like Paul, weave together a twofoldstory that combines our individual experience with the Gospel for all. Otherwise they will
indeed dismiss what we say as something merely our experience. They wont deny it. But
they wont embrace it either. They wont disagree but they wont feel its sting.

Telling Your Story ..... (Continued from Page 6)

How do we do this? Here are two suggestions:

1.
Prepare Few of us can compose Pauline brilliance on the spot. Think through
which events were pivotal in your coming to faith. Be sure to include both
strands of the two stories (your experience and the gospel message). Decide
ahead of time what you will and will not say. And choose your vocabulary
carefully.
2.
Proclaim that the gospel is both true and good. Its one thing to tell the story of
how you became a Christian and what convinced you of its truth. Its another
thing to tell why youre thankful for the gospels work in you how its made
you a better person, a more gracious husband, a more patient parent, a more
compassionate friend, etc. People need to hear both aspects of the gospel that
Jesus rose from the dead and that you actually wish others could be like you
(except for these chains).
