    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FILIPINO CONDUCTOR TO PERFORM ATCARNEGIE HALL Award winning Filipino musician, Maestro Michael Dadap, conductor, composer and classical guitarist will conduct an 80-member Young Symphonic Ensemble (YSE) of the Children;s Orchestra in the world's most prestigious arena in classical music, the Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 3, 2009. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. The program promises to be a very exciting, exhilarating and difinitely challenging. YSE under Maestro Dadap's baton opens with Rossini's Barber of Seville Overture to be followed by Camille Saint-Saen's Concerto # 3 in g minor for violin and Orchestra with 2009 Discovery Winner, 16 year old Sheena Tsai as soloist. The evening also features three world-renowned guest artists: Soovin Kim, violin, Eric Jacobson, cello, and Orli Shaham, piano to perform Beethoven's Tripple Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in D Major, for violin,cello,piano and orchestra. COS is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and the 15th Discovery Concert Series on this evening with performances by 2009 Senior Discovery Winner violinist Sheena Tsai, and the YSE conducted by Maestro Michael Dadap. Program includes Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture, Saint Saëns’ Violin Concerto for Violin No. 3, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in D Major, featuring guest artists Violinist Soovin Kim, Pianist Orli Shaham, Cellist Eric Jacobsen, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. About the artists: Sheena Tsai began violin lessons at age six. She has studied with Laura Broverman and Ju-Young Kim and is presently a student of Zhi Jian. She performed as soloist and was an active member of the Young Musicians’ Ensemble. In May of 2007, she won third place in the Flushing Town Hall Young Artists’ Violin Competition. Most recently featured in the Intel School of Distinction celebration, Ms. Tsai is a junior at Townsend Harris High School and a member her school’s chamber music ensemble. Ms. Tsai, a member of COS since 2004, currently serves as the concertmistress of the Young Symphonic Ensemble and Elite String Ensemble. Known for his spectacular virtuosity as well as his probing musicianship, violinist Soovin Kim has received some of the most prestigious honors in the world including the Henryk Szeryng Career Award, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and first prize in the Paganini International Violin Competition. In Europe Mr. Kim has performed with the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Accademia di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, and the Prague Chamber Orchestra. U.S. engagements have included the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Florida Philharmonic, and the Syracuse, North Carolina, and Indianapolis symphonies. He has also been heard in recital at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Ravinia, and in Seoul, Naples, Rome, and Hamburg. His recordings on the Azica label with pianist Jeremy Denk and the Jupiter String Quartet have appeared on Billboard’s Classical Chart and received Classic FM magazine’s Instrumental Disc of the Month award. He plays on a 1709 Antonio Stradivarius violin, the “ex-Kempner.” Eric Jacobsen lives in Brooklyn, NY and performs as a cellist and conductor. He has a keen desire to work in a wide spectrum of styles and is constantly looking towards the future with colleagues and fellow musicians for inspiration and collaboration. Mr. Jacobsen is a member of Brooklyn Rider, a string quartet that explores music beyond the conventional clas
