    MBBS FROM G.S.V.M. Medical College,Kanpur, G.S.V.M.

    Medical College,Kanpur, known for its abstract excellence world over , is named after Late Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, a great freedom fighter ,who left this world in March 1931. This was the first medical college of U.P. established in independent India, forming a landmark in the histories of medical education in the state of U.P. It is one of the five medical colleges in India made under the second five year plan. This college established in November 1955 and itsbuilt by Hon'ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on April 24, 1956. Late Dr. S.N. Mathur was the first Principal of this college.

    MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. In theory it is considered as two separate degrees, but in practice the two are usually treated as one. The degrees are the British equivalent of the American M.D. The basic or degree level qualification for a medical profession is MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine And Bachelor of Surgery) Duration: 4 1/2 years duration and 1 year needed for internship.
