Business Education
Dear Parents: My name is Lisa Perkins and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I will be your child's Business teacher this coming school year. I am a graduate of West Platte High in Weston, MO and I attended NWMSUU in Maryville, MO, where I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Education. I have been married for 26 years, and we have four wonderful children: Kevin, Marcus, Marissa, and Anna. In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, sewing, and watching sports. I believe that everyone needs to work together to make the learning experience effective. I have very high expectations for your child, and with your help, we can help your child achieve those expectations. I am looking forward to a very successful year and I know you are too. I am available to help students individually before school, during prep periods, and after school. I am available to parents during those times as well. Please feel free to contact me by calling the school or e-mailing me. Together we can make this a successful year!

Dear Parents,

Volume 1, Issue 1

This week begins a brand new school year for all of us, and Id like to extend a warm welcome to my students. I have put together a handbook of information to help you and your child become familiar with my expectations for the school year. Take a day or two to read through this information, and then sign and return the computer usage page by Friday. You may want to keep the handbook in a special place so that you may refer to it throughout the year. This handbook will also be available online at http:// mrsperkinsbused.weebly.com. If you need to contact me, I prefer email if possible. My email address is lperkins@ridgeway.k12.mo.us. I check my email each day and I will respond promptly. If you do not have email, you may call the school and leave a message (660-872-6813) Im looking forward to an exciting year with my class. Thank you for your cooperation in getting this year off to a great start! Sincerely,

Cooperative Learning I wholeheartedly believe in cooperative learning in the classroom. Research has shown that all students do better when they are allowed to discuss and defend their ideas as they learn. Working in small groups also helps students learn valuable social skills they will need throughout life. Parents are often concerned about grades in the cooperative learning classroom. Dont worry! All grades come from individual assignments and tests. No student's grade will be raised or lowered based on the performance of others in the group. Class Newsletters I will send home a Class Newsletter often and post it online at http:// mrsperkinsbused.weebly.com as well. This newsletter will have a list of classwork that was done as well as any homework that is assigned. There will also be a list of lessons and events that will be planned for the upcoming weeks. Our Class on the Web Our class has a home on the Internet! We have a class web page on which we will display student assignments, the class calendar, and other school related information. Parents can visit the web page to keep up-to -date. Our web site is located at http://mrsperkinsbused.weebly.com. I only use students first names and last initials, and I dont match pictures with names. If you do not want your childs picture, stories, or other work on our class web page, please write me a note or send me an email. Be sure to visit our web page before you make this decision! I
