Japanese Together *from Scratch*
Second lesson
Let’s move a bit!!!
I’ll go to the station eki ni ikimasu
えきにいきます。駅に行きます。

The verbs
iku いく、行く to go
kuru くる、来る to come (irregular!)
kaeru かえる、帰る to go back home, to go
back where we belong
modoru もどる、戻る is the generic “to go
back”
“uchi ni kaeru”… not used, uchi is implied with
kaeru. You can find “uchi ga kaeru” meaning
that the family is going back home.
Something about particles
1
eki NI/E ikimasu KA? Are you going to the
station? えきにいきますか。えきへいきます
か。駅に行きますか。
NI に = to E へ = towards
KA か = ?
Don’t worry too much about using E or NI. I
heard more often E for countries, cities… but
both can be used when you focus on the
direction/place you are heading to.

go from the station to the post office. ははと

MADE = to (until, till) both in space and time

honorific when you speak about their family, or
speaking within your circle.
