Knowledge building is a matter of power in Pakistan Abstract:

Although New Historicism demonstrate many issues but here it focuses on the way literature expresses and sometimes disguises-power relations at work in the social context in which the literature was produced. The idea of panoptic state explore that state power and social structure is determined by the power of its discursive practices. Using Foucault works on New Historicism I am going to explore the relation between knowledge and the state power in the context of Pakistan. Knowledge in Pakistan is controlled by the state power. Social structure is determined and based on the dominant discursive practices which include the dominant pillars of state such as legislation, religion and media. The state power governs all these discourses. Knowledge is a matter of change when the ruling power is change. I will explore that knowledge building in Pakistan is a matter of power. Things in discourse become reality and a part of our custom as well. Literature is also influenced by the ruling authority. So the history and literature is not the whole entity rather it is a matter of personal prejudices and biases.
