During the early morning hours of January 1, 2013, Kannapolis Police officers responded to Royal Oaks Gardens Apartments regarding a fight with weapons. The investigation revealed that Lashaun Monte Blunt had been engaged in a physical altercation with another black male when he pulled a firearm. A fight ensued over the weapon at which time Blunt fired at least one round from the weapon. This shooting occurred while inside of an apartment that was occupied by several individuals, including 2 children. Lashaun Blunt was arrested at his Melba Avenue (Concord) residence on August 19th and was placed in the custody of the Cabarrus County Jail under a secure $100,000 bond. As of this date Blunt remains incarcerated.
