Online: http://infosvcs.lcu.edu In Current challenges, it is obvious that C Marvin Pate wants to inform his readers of the debate concerning the relationship between the Christian NT canon and orthodoxy. An important statement that Pate makes is that four canonical Gospels are reliable and have authority. He supports this by telling us where each of the authors of the four canonical Gospels get their authority. He shows us the challenge that the liberals give to the traditional view and then he gives us the traditional counter in order to help inform of the current debate going on between traditionalists and liberals. A target audience is any student of the Bible and anyone trying to establish their beliefs in the canon and its authority.
