St. Gregory of Narek stands out as a central figure in the history of the Armenian Apostolic Church. After graduating from seminary at the Monestary of Narek, Gregory began his work as a Vardapet, or Doctor of the Church. His contributions to the liturgy, Biblical commentary and discourses enriched the life of the church from Medieval Times thorugh the present day. His best known work, The Book of Lamentations, includes ninety-five chapters unified by the theme of reconciliation with God.
