Reverend Fathers and Monsignori, Reverend Superiors of Religious Institutes and Congregations, Lay Leaders and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of San Pablo:
To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative. ! The conict in Syria has caused Pope Francis so much pain and suffering. He was so affected that He continuously appeals for peace not only to the parties involved but to the whole world that everyone work for peace. ! Empathizing with the heart of the Holy Father, We are urging all priests and religious in the Diocese of San Pablo to be one with the whole church in the observance of what the Pope calls A Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Peace in Syria and in the Middle East. This will be tomorrow, Saturday, September 7th, the eve of the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of Peace. We especially request all the parish priests in the whole diocese to invite the parishioners to participate in this call of the Holy Father. You may use the available common prayers. ! May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of Peace keep Us all united in the Church, mirroring the unity of the Blessed Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
