II Linear electric circuit

2 - We want to determine the currents I1, I2, I3 in the circuit by applying Kirchhoffs laws. (The mesh current method using matrices) R1 Numerical values: E1 I1 R2 I2 R3 I3 R4 E1=60V, R1=7, R2=12, R3=6, R4=12.

R1 + R2 R2 0 E1 I1 = 0 0 R2 R2 + R3 R3

R2 R2 + R3 R3

0 I1 E1 I = 0 R3 2 R3 + R4 I3 0 R2 R2 + R3 R3 0 17280 R3 = = 6A 2880 R3 + R4

Using Cramers rule to find the currents I1, I2, I3

0 R1 + R2 R R3 / 2 R3 + R4 0

I2 = 4.5A and I3 = 1.5A

obtain Pouillets law:

E i= R
k k k' k'

k= +1 if the e.m.f Ek is in the same direction as the current i k= -1 in the contrary case
