Experiment
• During my time at Cass Tech, I was
only able to do two experiments with
the kids because of the time
available and the time it took for
supplies to be ordered and delivered.
However, I did do an oxidation-
reduction lesson with the kids, as
well as a percent solution exercise.
Triple Point
• In this experiment we filled
soda bott
bottles with dry ice to make
pressure probes
• From this, the kids were able to use
their pressure probes to find the
triple point. The triple point is where
there is all three states of mater
present in the container.
• The kids were able to see what the
pressure needs to be at for all three
states of matter to exist at the same
time.
Silver Mirror Lab
• The silver mirror lab is designed to
teach the kids how to make %
solutions.
• We also talked about
Oxidation and Reduction.
• We will be doing this lab next
week.
Kayla’s Personal Statement
For this experience Mrs. Chopra already
knew what she wanted to teach the kids. She
had certain labs that focused on the points that
she wanted to emphasize.
So it was my job to make the lab fun and
engaging. The way that I did this was to add
fun pictures to the pages of the lab that were
visually pleasing as well as compliment what
was being taught in the lab.
I also spent a lot of time talking to the
kids and preparing them for the lab. I was able
to see that there were 16 different children who
needed learned in 16 different ways. I had to
adjust for each child, and that is something that
I wish my high school teachers would have
