kNOTS and Twisted interlaces

A graphed pattern family Kim Salazar, 1995, 2009, 2012; http://www.string-or-nothing.com

These knot patterns are assorted adaptations of a simple twist pattern appearing in 16 century modelbooks (embroidery and lace pattern collections). They are adapted from Giovani Andrea Vavasores Ensamplio di Lavori, first printed in Venice in 1532. I regraphed that pattern and included it in The New Carolingian Modelbook: Counted Embroidery Patterns from Before 1600 by Ianth d'Averoigne (Kim Brody Salazar). Outlaw Press, 1995. Since then Ive played with this design, excerpting from it and elaborating on the base concept.
