Now w e can start the program using YaST. For this, w e w ill use a script / s b i n / y a s t 2 . It is an envelope for easier setup of a running YaST environment. So if you are reading this document w ith a brow ser, you could copy-and-paste the program listed above into a file h e l l o . y c p , and then run /sbin/yast2 hello.ycp w hich should render the follow ing spectacular result. Figure 1.1. Output of the Hello, World!-program

Starting off w ith this simple example w e w ill now explore the more subtle details of Y C P . Since all programming is about handling of data there must be a w ay to hold it in variables of different types. In the next section you w ill get to know the various data types that Y C Pknow s about.
