Native Speaker Person is generally a native speaker of a language and that this language will be spoken across all domains(home, school, social, community, etc) Types of Bilinguals: Stable BL: Generally use two langs. daily as the norm rather than the exception Attriting BL: Suffering from some aspect(s) of language attrition(ie. Reduced contact, environment etc) Developing BLs: Separated into 2 categories Elective BL Usually individuals Circumstances Elects to learn another lang. Circumstantial BL Usually groups Circumstances dictate learning another lang. Communicative Usually artificial(classroom) opportunities Dominance 1st lang. usually remains dominant Relating to survival, vary to degree and extent Complementary roles, dominance varying by domain
