SUPERVISOR DIANNE JACOB COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO

STATEMENT 9/27/2013
County Supervisor Dianne Jacob reacts to todays announcement that sexually violent predator Douglas Badger may be placed in rural East County, depending on the outcome of a Nov. 15 hearing in San Diego Superior Court. (Details of the case here.) Given his violent history as a serial sexual predator, Douglas Badger forfeited his freedom long ago and should be locked up for good. Its especially outrageous that this vile man would be housed at a location in Campo that is only four miles from two schools and a mile from a park where children gather and play. In recent years, other sexual predators placed in rural East County have violated the terms of their release and were sent back to a mental institution. Rather than dumping Badger in the backcountry, the state should house him next to Donovan State Prison, where several sexually violent predators have previously been located.

(Supervisor Jacob represents District 2, the largest of San Diego Countys five supervisorial districts. It covers most of the eastern two-thirds of the county and includes more than 50 cities and other communities, including La Mesa, Poway, El Cajon, Spring Valley, Ramona, Campo and Julian.)
