A Comparison of Physiological & Biochemical Changes of Ricinus communis L. Leaf in fresh and polluted environment.
Antik Bose

Abstract:
The morphological, biochemical and physiological status of Ricinus communis L. plant has been studied to access the seriousness of air pollution. The morphological parameters like transpiration rate, foliar dust deposition and biochemical parameters like concentrations of protein, chlorophyll, phosphorus, sugar, amino acid and enzyme assays like catalase, nitrate reductase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, ascorbate peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase and chlorophyllase have been found to be pollution load dependent. These variations can be used as indicators of air pollution for early diagnosis of stress or as markers for physiological damage to plants prior to the onset of visibe injury.
