Jamieson has difficulty writing legibly at a normal pace. He can read about 50 of the 100 most used words, but cannot spell more than 15. Jamieson will begin to write more quickly, and will write legibly all the time, by ensuring that he is using the correct pencil grip and is forming his letters well.

Learning Outcomes/ Indicators


We will make observations of Jamiesons writing and ensure that he is using his pencil grip. We will test his reading and spelling of the 100 most used words.

Implementation Strategies
Jamieson will begin to work one on one with a Reading Recovery specialist, as well as with Rachel, in reading group time. He will play aps and computer games that help develop his skills, and will have his own reward chart for writing. He will work with flash cards, write letters to student teacher, and take special spelling words home each week. He will have extra help from parents and teachers during silent reading time.

Actual Performance Jamieson is thriving with one on one teaching. His spelling, especially has improved, and he can spell at least 30 of the 100 most used words. Jamiesons writing pace has become faster, and is much more legible.

Things to do at home:
Jamieson will receive 'free time' to play any computer word games if he hands in his homework with a short story written neatly using his spelling words. He will receive points every day if his parents sign off that he has read.
