Teaching aids required: handouts, board marker, whiteboard

Objectives:
students will be able to: 1. Understand the structure of the poem 2. Identify figures of speech 3. Understand the theme and relate it to their lives

Presentation:
T reads the poem aloud to make Ss understand the poem via listening. In 2nd reading, T explains the poem and identifies the figures of speech used in it. Figures to be discussed: simile, metaphor, rhyme scheme, tercet, repetition, alliteration.

Warm up:
T asks about the task assigned in the previous class. Then T talks about threats to nature and environment. Technique used in warm up is questioning.

Controlled Practice:
T divides the class into groups of 4s or 5s and asks Ss to discuss among themselves the tercet given to their group and jot down the point.

Guided Practice:
T asks the groups to explain in writing the tercet given to them for discussion

Assignment/ Free Practice

Ss are asked to write the summary of the poem. Notes & Comments
