Progress... Slow, yet Steady, Progress.

This past month we were able to have a conference for believers outside of Dhaka for MBBs (Mslm Background Believer) . The work among this people was begun by a partner of ours about four years ago. For the past two years weve been working together to minister to them. For me, this conference was a mixture of blessings and discouragements. The blessings were seen in that this group of believers have made progress. We had a conference this time last year with these believers. It was a blessing to be able to reflect on their spiritual state last conference and compare it with where they are now. They really are growing in their knowledge of the truth and the Word. Also, last year we challenged them that next year they will each bring two disciples to the conference. Because of some logistic problems not all of their disciples were able to come, but their were some new people this year. Praise the Lord! However, the discouragements came in the fact that even thought they are Ian teaching at the conference. growing they are not at the place wed like them to be, both in their character or desire for the Word. There was some quarreling among them and at times a sense that they Communion. arent reading the Word regularly. The conference covered many topics, but the two Coke and main topics that Ian taught about were: The Devotional Life and The Progress of the Ruti, the Ideal Believer. Ian showed them what the B*ble says about the great value of the Bangladeshi Word and challenged them to make it a part of their life everyday. We are pr*ying flatbread that they take this to heart. Truly there is not much we can do further their progress, but if they begin to take reading the Word seriously they will indeed grow. Ian also talked with them about what the goal is for every believer. They discussed the various stages in the spiritual life of an ideal MBB. First, they are believers, then they become Proof of b*ptized believers , then disciples, then the goal- disciple-makers. That is, Disciples who progress. make other disciples. Many people stop along the way thinking that that stage is the goal This is a diagram of the Xtian life. We do believe that this time was beneficial for them. Our hope is that theyd see what G is doing in their own lives and help them to evaluate and therefore the people effectively shepherd their disciples toward the goal. Weve been finding encouragement attending in this verse: Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in a new you will bring ti to completion at the day of J Xt. Pr*y with us for these believers towards house that means. ch*rch Also, weve heard that there has been some persecution among these believers. in the One of them runs a school and many people came to the school accusing him of teaching village. about Xtianity. He had to clos the school for a while. He was very discouraged. Since then the school has reopened. Pr*y for him in the spirit of Hebrews 13:3.

During Haleys class B*ble times, they have been looking at the miraculous healings of J. This is a great opportunity to show the kids how J was not just a man, but G. Pray for the children to have a desire and interest in spiritual things and that even through language and religious barriers J can become known. The school has come under investigation by the government authorities as to what the spouses of the teachers are doing. The authorities are worried that they might be working, which is not allowable according to the stipulations of the visa, or that the school might just be a front to bring Ms into the country, which it is not. There will be a meeting with soon to investigate. The school has told that Ian should just tell them that he does nothing and just stays at home. However, this is not the truth. We have a strong desire to not speak falsely, but to tell the truth. Yet, the whole truth could cause some problems for the school. So please pray for the meeting. Pr*y that Ian would speak truthfully yet wisely and not sin by saying what they want to hear.

We are both at the keep on pr*ying point were we are able to teach in Bangla, yet for us... with this requires further learning to do it well. we plan on making some trips to the village to share in the coming months. Pr*y for wisdom in this. for the people that we are discipling, that theyd start to meet with others. We are encouraged in this area, however. So, praise the Lord for slow, steady progress. for our personal walks with God.

A Blessed Society
The United States and the west are extremely blessed for many reasons, One of the main reasons of course is financially and materially. Yet, I believe that the biggest blessing is the easy access to the GoodNews and the Word of G. And not only just the Word itself, but also the wide availability of helpful resources. B*ble laden books, articles, online sermons, PowerPoint's, video analogies, worship songs! We are a blessed society! The amount of English Xtian resources are uncountable when compared to the amount of resources in Bangla. In Bangladesh it is not illegal to have a B*ble, but there is a famine of Xtian resources. In the U.S. if we want to look up something as simple as a B*ble reading plan we have the luxury of simply type it into Google and there it is. Here this is not the case. Therefore a good chunk of time last month was spent by Ian translating and creating resources for people in the village. This type of work is time consuming and not the type of thing we want to be doing, yet if we dont do, how will they have such resources? One of the simplest, yet essential resources, that he made this past month is two B*ble reading plans for the MBBs A 31 day B*ble Overview and 21 Days in the Life of J.
