Course Description : This course is for students who need to enhance their English language skills, it will give them a better understanding in how to use English in their life. It will focus on grammar and vocabulary. It prepares students for their other courses and will help them improve their language skills. Course Objectives: By end of this course, students will be able to : 1) Express the different meanings of the new vocabulary as well as identify each one with 90% accuracy. 2)Explain the difference between nouns, pronouns, adjectives and verbs as well as use them correctly in a sentence. 3)Identify the different types of nouns, adjectives and pronouns. 4) Demonstrating the ability to compare between present conditions , first conditions and second conditions. Prerequisites : This is the first course for English for Foreign language, as 097-A students would have a better acquisition of the language and will begin in the second half of the book. Required Text: Judith Nadell , Beth Johnsons Vocabulary Basics, Second edition. Mark Foley & Diane Halls MyGrammarLab Elementary A1/A2.

Expectations: In my lectures I expect to help students improve their language skills and speaking skills, I will provide the students with the key rules and I will expect them to use the rules and contribute in the classroom discussions. Assignments: 1.Students will be expected to review their weekly vocabulary words where they will demonstrate their understanding in the first 5 minutes of every class. 2.Home-grammer quiz: every Thursday students will participate in an online grammar quiz on www.mygrammerlab.com and every week it will be graded. 3.Vocabulary Quiz: every Thursday students will participate in an in class vocabulary quiz where students will demonstrate their understanding of the weekly vocabulary assigned to them. Policies: 1.Grading Scale : Pass or Fail course , 100-60 passed 59-0 failed

2.Any Cheating and you be asked to leave and receive an incomplete. 0 tolerance for cheating. 3.NO MOBILES OR ELECTONICS AT ALL. 4.No makeup exams unless you have a legitimate reason for missing the exam. Logistics: When using the site for the weekly grammar quizzes you may need a laptop or pc using your small devices like ipad will not always work. You will also need to register using the code in your book so a new book is required for this course.
