t was the early nineties. Gordon Williams had a job that required extensive travel, calling on auto body shops across the region on behalf of his employer, an automotive paint and body supply company. A regular challenge of Gordons job was dealing with the attitudes of body shop owners and managers. Lets face it no one is happy getting into an accident, and those negative sentiments filtered through from the clients to the shop workers, and from them to me, he recalls. To his further detriment, the time Gordon spent traveling for work meant that he often missed out on the extracurricular activities of his family, including children Scott, Chris and Carol. As a telephone sales representative, Gordons wife fared little better. Jeanne Williams earned a respectable paycheck at US West Direct but the hours were long and the work demanding; reps were required to meet minimum sales quotas. Gordon knew something had to give, and as he quietly began looking for possible alternatives to the daily grind, he received a phone call from a friend. The friend had recently become a Nikken Consultant, and instantly Gordon recognized an opportunity to be involved in something more rewarding than the life his family had been eking out something that would allow him more freedom to enjoy quality time with family and friends, and that would bring the satisfaction that only comes from helping others. The decision was made. In the spring of 1992, Gordon gave notice to his employer and jumped into Nikken full time. Jeanne kept her day job, with the mutual agreement that once the couples Nikken income equaled the sum of their combined previous paychecks

she would join Gordon to build their Nikken business together as a family. As a new Independent Nikken Consultant Gordon Williams wasted no time in learning all he could about the business. He attended as many meetings, conferences and trainings as he was able. He talked to established Nikken leaders until he understood the ins and outs of the business opportunity, and he realized that he had what it would take to be successful. Every morning as Jeanne was getting ready for work, Gordon was up planning

The catch of the day in Vancouver


his day and heading out the door with his sponsor to do presentations. There were many evenings when he arrived home later than Jeanne did, but it was a temporary sacrifice they were willing to make. They both understood and lived by the mottos If its to be, its up to me, and Failure is not an option. The experience taught Jeanne and Gordon that its easier to work hard toward their own goals when theyre helping others achieve theirs. And they were able to make good on their pact by 1995, when Jeanne joined her husband as a full-time partner in their Nikken business. The Williamses believe that wellness is about living the 5 Pillars of Health: a

Williamses two-decades-plus Nikken journey, one of their greatest lessons was simply learning how to listen. When people feel that you are listening to them, theyre much more willing to reciprocate. Gordon and Jeanne share their hard-won triumph with their frontline team of Diamond and Royal Diamond leaders, including Lynette Richardson, Julie Tara, Joan Spears and Dita Olaes. With the help of The Williamses frontline team of their teams Diamond and Royal Diamond leaders combined efforts, the Williamses know they have accomplished so much more than they ever could have on their own. Humans Being More training has also played a significant role in the couples journey to Royal Diamond. Theyre grateful for the opportunity to repeat the course as often as they wish. And whenever they have a new Consultant attending the training for the first time, Gordon and Jeanne make an effort to be there as a show of support. At last count, Ive attended 22 Humans Being More training classes, and Gordon has attended 20, including the times weve both participated as helpers, says Jeanne. All three of our children have completed the training as well. Today, as co-owners of a lucrative international Nikken organization, the Royal Diamond couple counts as one of their greatest assets the ability to one day bequeath their multimillion-dollar business to their children an option that would not have been possible working for someone else. Its a legacy that can benefit their six grandchildren as well, who range in age from 30 to 10. To Consultants who wish to follow in their footsteps, Gordon and Jeanne offer the following advice: Realize when you achieve a new rank that its not a stopping point. Take time to thank the people who helped you reach your goal, but remember its very easy to get stuck and harder to rebuild momentum. Keep to your plan and lead by example. Regularly update your Life Cycle plan, and set new goals in your Nikken business, and in all you do.

After only two months, Jeanne realized she was finally sleeping through the night for the first time since high school. It was a revelation to learn how good it felt to be well rested. Through Nikken we improved our health, our family and our finances. We believe in being a product of the product, and we become an example to those around us. I discovered the Nikken opportunity 15 years ago, when my then 18-month old daughter London responded positively and profoundly to Nikken technologies. At the time I was married to my college sweetheart and a mother of two, employed as the community manager of a nonprofit property management company and also working as a hairstylist. The Nikken opportunity has enhanced my life by providing a healthy environment for me and my entire family, as well as my friends. It has also given me a vehicle to earn unlimited income to create the lifestyle of our dreams. Most importantly, it has given me the opportunity to love others by offering them the gift of wellness the same as I received in my daughter 15 years ago and to witness countless miracles in the process. Wellness means the world to me now. Before Nikken I was only concerned with my health when I became sick. Now my family lives in a home filled with Nikken products. We all know the benefit of living a healthy life. Though I lost my daughter London to a surgical error in 1999, weve since welcomed two new additions to the family: 13-year old Destiny and five-year old Linito, who were born into a Nikken home. It has been simply amazing living a balanced lifestyle with the 5 Pillars of Health Healthy Body, Mind, Family, Society and Finances. Even the kids are advocates of Nikken. Every chance he gets, my son Linito tells his pediatrician I don't get sick, Im a Nikken kid.

Of the challenges Ive faced in building my business, one in particular stands out: The difficulty in helping existing Consultants to understand that their testimonial is just as important as my story of my daughter London. They felt they could not compete with such a powerful testimonial. I had to help them work through owning their own testimonial and highlighting how they shined when telling their story. Being able to convey their compassion provided validation and confidence in what they were sharing about Nikken. That adjustment helped to move those who were stuck in their business; they now have confidence approaching prospects without my presence. Consequently, Ive been able to move forward prospecting new Consultants and customers. Humans Being More training had a great impact on me. I really struggled with the loss of my daughter London. Humans Being More helped me release the anger I was carrying for six years. You see, I wasnt a business builder when I first joined Nikken. Like many others I had a career job, a house, a car and a healthy family, so the business opportunity didnt interest me. After attending HBM training in 2008, I made the decision to actively grow my Nikken business. I started Londons Energy Center to honor my daughter through offering every willing person a Nikken Rollout with an initial invitation to introduce and experience the Nikken wellness technologies.

We just love to see people get excited, and whether its a new car that does it or a home, or whatever it may be we want people to know that through Nikken they can have or do or be anything they want, and we want to assist them in doing so. Business 21 CLuB
Designed to help newer Consultants gain valuable experience by utilizing the ABC method, the Business 21 Club is an incentive to complete 21 presentations or demonstrations to 21 new prospects within 30 days. Those who successfully meet the requirements will earn recognition and an award check.

Qualification requirements
Within 30 days, Consultant B must satisfy each of the following: 1. Team with one or more A Consultant(s) to deliver presentations/demonstrations to twenty-one (21) different C prospects. (A husband and wife or two partners are considered one prospect.) 2. Achieve a minimum of 6,000 Personal Group Volume (PGV) points. 3. Sponsor at least three (3) NEW frontline Seniors. 4. Register for Humans Being More training and online Silver training, if not already completed. All orders and paperwork must be finalized within 10 days after the 30-day incentive period.

A Nikken Consultant at any rank who develops three or more Silver (or higher) legs in a period of three consecutive months may be eligible for the prestigious Paragon award, which includes a valuable prize or award check.

Qualification requirements

The following Consultants will receive onstage recognition at the 2013 Nikken Leadership Conference for their consistently exceptional performance over the preceding year. toP sPonsors The most productive sponsors across North America are ranked according to the number of new Consultants they have recruited during the past 12 months. This award recognizes the top tier of these outstanding performers. toP retailers To identify the top retailers, Consultants are ranked by their total retail volume generated over the past year. Nikken awards the highest achievers with this prestigious honor. toP business builDers The recipients of this award are selected from among the top performing Platinum, Diamond and Royal Diamond Consultants annually. To be eligible for consideration, Consultants must meet the following three requirements: 1. Generate at least 50% of their total annual earnings within their home market (North America) 2. PC member in good standing 3. Achieve the following minimum Organization Volume and Non-Primary Leg Volume for their rank, annually: Platinum $30,000 (OV) and $10,000 (Non-Primary) Diamond $100,000 (OV) and $30,000 (Non-Primary) Royal Diamond $300,000 (OV) and $100,000 (Non-Primary) Nikken will evaluate and rank the performance of eligible Consultants over a 12-month period (currently July 1 June 30) based on the following three key categories and business activities: 1. Total number of new Consultants within their downline. 2. Total number of rank advancements within their downline. 3. Total PGV over the 12-month period. Even before it launched, I was really excited by all I had heard about Kenzen Vital Balance. insomnia crisis continues


The latest statistics confirm that the epidemic of sleeplessness in America isnt going away any time soon. The 2013 Sleep Survey conducted by pollster Harris Interactive reveals how persistent this health disorder has become: 100 million Americans suffer from occasional sleep problems, and a third of those endure chronic poor sleep. More than 80% of all Americans say that they do not get a good nights sleep on a regular basis. (Florida today, August 12, 2013.)

Women who are pregnant often experience difficulties in sleeping. But new information suggests that sleep health during gestation has an effect on its outcome. Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center investigated how sleep relates to complications such as low birth weight and preterm delivery. The disruption in normal immune system function that occurs with poor-quality sleep appears to be a factor. (Psychology today, August 8, 2013.)

The University of Pennsylvania Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology has uncovered an interesting link between balanced diet and sleep, according to Michael Grandner, team leader in research that examined this connection. Grandner and his staff enrolled men and women in a yearlong review of their eating and sleeping habits. The results, published in the journal Appetite, showed that normal sleepers were those who consumed the widest variety of nutrients, while the poor sleepers had the narrowest nutrient range. The article stated that these data may help us better understand the complex relationship between diet and sleep and the potential role of diet in the relationship between sleep and obesity and other cardiometabolic risks. (Mens Journal, August 1, 2013.)

Sunlight could be the cure for what ails millions of insomniacs, asserted David DiSalvo, science writer in Forbes magazine. DiSalvo was referring to a study that considered sleep quality and duration among office workers. Researchers found that employees in windowed offices which provided at least some exposure to sunlight received three-quarters of an hour more sleep at night than those in windowless workstations. That wasnt the only difference; employees without a window reported higher rates of physical illness, and less vitality. DiSalvo acknowledges that many without access to full-spectrum light may be limited to getting outside during breaks, but concludes that you should get as much natural light exposure during the day as possible, given the confines of your workplace. PRESIDENTS CLUB
Qualifications for Membership
in order to be eligible for membership in the nikken Presidents club, applicants must:
1. Exemplify the Nikken spirit and philosophy. 2. Build a networking organization exclusively with Nikken. 3. Subscribe to Nikken Autoship and myNikken Premier. 4. Reach Platinum rank by creating new volume. (Purchase of another distributorship to advance in rank does not meet the qualifications.) 5. Be qualified at the Platinum level or higher as pay rank for six consecutive months. 6. Provide leadership for his/her team. As a role model, a Presidents Club member actively builds the business by creating new volume and supports Nikken events and trainings. 7. Make regular appearances at Nikken events, such as Conventions and Leadership Conferences, and contribute to the success of others by teaching business building skills. 8. Discourage activities that interfere with Policies & Procedures and set a good example, including but not limited to discouraging promotion of other businesses, products and services to the Nikken network of Consultants.

SUMMARY VERSION OF THE DSA CODE OF ETHICS


As a consumer you should expect salespeople to: Tell you who they are, why theyre approaching you and what products they are selling. Promptly end a demonstration or presentation at your request. Provide a receipt with a clearly stated cooling off period permitting the consumer to withdraw from a purchase order within a minimum of three days from the date of the purchase transaction and receive a full refund of the purchase price. Explain how to return a product or cancel an order. Provide you with promotional materials that contain the address and telephone number of the direct selling company. Provide a written receipt that identifies the company and salesperson, including contact information for either. Respect your privacy by calling at a time that is convenient for you. Safeguard your private information. Provide accurate and truthful information regarding the price, quality, quantity, performance, and availability of their product or service. Offer a written receipt in language you can understand. Offer a complete description of any warranty or guarantee.

As a salesperson, you should expect a dsA member company to: Provide you with accurate information about the companys compensation plan, products, and sales methods. Describe the relationship between you and the company in writing. Be accurate in any comparisons about products, services or opportunities Refrain from any unlawful or unethical recruiting practice and exorbitant entrance or training fees. Ensure that you are not just buying products solely to qualify for downline commissions. Ensure that any materials marketed to you by others in the salesforce are consistent with the companys policies, are reasonably priced and have the same return policy as the companys. Require you to abide by the requirements of the Code of Ethics. Safeguard your private information. Provide adequate training to help you operate ethically. Base all actual and potential sales and earnings claims on documented facts. Encourage you to purchase only the inventory you can sell in a reasonable amount of time. Repurchase marketable inventory and sales aids you have purchased within the past 12 months at 90 percent or more of your original cost if you decide to leave the business. Explain the repurchase option in writing. Have reasonable start-up fees and costs.
