A Dog in the House

By Elton Camp We knew the minute we went in the door From a rank odor we had smelled before Few odors are more repulsive than these Its a mixture of urine and canine feces Stenches that normal humans cant abide Yet ones that Lori doesnt attempt to hide At her house odor, she may be surprised Perhaps her nose has become desensitized We both wonder what Lori would think If we say, Your house sure does stink. We are just a bit tempted to try it, But suspect shes angrily deny it She regards her mutt as a child Speak against it and she gets riled So we warily look around For a place we can sit down But dog hair coats every chair Brown and yellow here & there Ill get Bruiser to give you a kiss, she said While she went for him, we quickly fled
