Your user account must be a part of the Enterprise Admins group Your user account must be a part of the Schema Admins group The DC that hosts the Schema Master FSMO must be on a computer running Exchange Server 2003 SP1 or Exchange Server 2003 R2. Your Exchange server must be in the same AD site as the Schema Master FSMO.

All of these are required in order to extended the AD Schema within the forest. 5.Which of the following Exchange server roles require that IIS is installed? (Choose all that apply.) a. b. c. d. CAS Mailbox Hub Edge

The CAS and Mailbox roles require IIS. 6.Which log in the Windows Event Viewer contains Exchange-related events? a. b. c. d. Security Directory Services System Application

The Application log in Event Viewer is used to record Exchange events. 7.Which of the following Exchange server roles requires that the RPC over HTTP Proxy be installed? a. b. c. d. CAS Mailbox Hub Edge

The CAS role requires the RPC over HTTP Proxy component in order to allow email clients to connect using the RPC over HTTP protocol. 8.Which of the following storage configurations use external hard disks that can be shared by multiple servers? a. b. c. d. RAID SAN SCSI PATA

SANs maintain data in external hard disks. 9.Which of the following log files lists the tasks that were performed during the Exchange Server 2007 installation process? a. b. c. %systemroot%\ExchangeSetup.msilog %systemroot%\ExchangeSetup.log %systemroot%\ExchangeSetupLogs\ExchangeSetup.msilog

True/False
Circle T if the statement is true or F if the statement is false. TF 1. TF 2. TF 3. TF 4. TF 5. TF 6. TF 7. TF 8. TF 9. A typical Exchange installation installs the CAS, UM and Mailbox roles by default. You must have at least one Hub role in each AD site that will contain Exchange servers or recipients. Mailbox roles cannot share hardware with other roles. Edge roles cannot share hardware with other roles. All domains that will have Exchange servers or recipient objects must be set to Windows 2000 Native functional level or higher. You must ensure that at least one DC in each domain that will contain Exchange servers hosts the GC. To install the CAS role, you must ensure that the server contains the ASP.NET component of IIS. All Exchange server roles require the .NET Framework 1.0 or later. You can not perform an in-place upgrade of Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2007.

TF 10. Exchange Server 2007 can not be installed on the Itanium 64-bit architecture. 1.False 2.True 3.False 4.True 5.True 6.False 7.True 8.False 9.True 10. True

Review Questions
1.Explain why smaller organizations are more likely to implement Exchange servers that contain multiple roles. Smaller organizations will likely have fewer users, email requirements, and monetary resources to spend on server hardware. As a result, smaller organizations are likely to implement an Exchange server that contains the CAS, Hub and Mailbox roles in each location and add additional Exchange servers as the organization grows. 2.Give some reasons why the command setup /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:name would fail (where name is the Exchange organization name). This command would fail if the user who ran it is not part of the Enterprise Admins group. It could also fail if there is a special character in the Exchange organization name or if there is an existing Exchange organization in the forest from a previous Exchange infrastructure.

Case Scenarios Scenario 3-1: Planning Exchange Server Roles You are the network administrator for a clothing retailer that has the following locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe: Denver 500 users across two sites. Miami 1100 users across three sites. Toronto 600 users in one site. Berlin 400 users in one site. London 800 users across two sites. All locations should perform virus and spam filtering on all incoming email as well as provide encrypted access for employees that check their email from home. In addition, Toronto and Miami require Unified Messaging functionality. Diagram a sample Exchange Server 2007 infrastructure for this organization that lists the number of Exchange servers required in each location and the roles that should be present on each Exchange server. Provide a rationale for all recommendations. Answers will vary, but will include several server roles in each location. The Edge role cannot share hardware with other server roles and the UM role must exist in the Miami and Toronto locations. In general, the number of roles in each location should be proportionate to the number of users and should provide for multiple locations where necessary.

Scenario 3-2: Planning Exchange Hardware and Software For the servers that you recommended in Scenario 3-1, detail the hardware and software required to support the Exchange Server 2007 server roles and user requirements in a short memo. Justify all of your decisions. Answers will vary, but will obey the hardware and software recommendations and requirements listed in this Lesson. In general, the hardware requirements should be proportionate to the number of users in each location.
