Milenaridade e Contemporaneidade: o movimento Hare Krishna na dinmica de Belo Horizonte

RESUMO Palavras chave: cidade; contracultura; globalizao Pesquisa etnogrfica realizada no primeiro semestre de 2012 com o objetivo de analisar como o movimento Hare Krishna chega ao mundo ocidental e como uma tradio milenar dialoga com a sociedade contempornea. Focamos no contexto cultural belo-horizontino visando o esclarecimento de como ele transformou a expresso do movimento, uma vez que o meio no qual ele est inserido rearticula sua prpria manifestao. A partir de quando esta tradio oriental se modifica adquirindo traos externos? Como ela se mantm coesa diante das transformaes e dos costumes provenientes da dinmica social urbana? Experincias pontuais junto comunidade estudada, entrevistas e telefonemas resumem o trabalho de campo. Os devotos se mostraram abertos e dispostos a dar-nos informaes sobre o movimento como um todo. ABSTRACT Key-words: city; counterculture; globalization Ethnographic research conducted in the first half of 2012 with the aim of examining how the Hare Krishna movement comes to the western world and how a millenar tradition dialogues with the contemporary society. Weve made a portrait of the cultural context of the city of Belo Horizonte trying to elucidate how it modified the expression of the movement since the enviroment which it is inserted reorganizes its own expression. Since when did this oriental tradition become different, acquiring external traces? How it keeps solid facing the transformations and the differents habits of a dinamic urban society? The field-work was based in specific experiences in the midst of the community and also interviews and phone calls. The devotes were very receptive and willingly to give us informations concerning the movement as a whole.
