Post Remediation Confirmation Testing Mountain View Elementary School 3448 Sandy Plains Road Marietta, Georgia

GLE Project No.: 13000-13335 Dear Mr. Wilson: Pursuant to our scope of services, GLE performed post remediation confirmation testing following remediation activities at the Mountain View Elementary School located at 3448 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, Georgia. The following paragraphs briefly describe the procedures and methodology used during the confirmation sampling and presents our findings and conclusions. BACKGROUND GLE representative, Ms. Rachel Andrews, conducted post remediation confirmation testing activities on October 8, 2013, subsequent to an initial indoor air quality assessment investigation performed by GLE and remediation activities performed an outside contractor. The initial indoor air quality assessment was performed on September 10, 11, and 17, 2013, by GLE, which presented findings and provided a remediation protocol based on those findings (GLE Report Number 13000-13335 Preliminary Mold Investigation and Carbon Dioxide/Carbon Monoxide Monitoring, dated September 20, 2013). During the initial investigation, elevated mold spore concentrations were identified within classrooms A-9, E-5, D-5, and I-5 and within Walkways H and J. The initial assessment also provided recommendations to clean, HEPA-vacuum, and dry the areas in which elevated mold spore concentrations were reported. Please refer to Section 5.0 of the PMA report for a detailed discussion of the recommendations and scope of work

Mr. Marvin Wilson GLE Project No. 13000-13335 October 9, 2013; Page 2 PROCEDURES AND METHODOLOGY GLE obtained indoor and outdoor baseline air samples from Mountain View Elementary School. The outdoor baseline samples were collected and analyzed to identify the regional occurrence and concentration of mold spores in the ambient outdoor air at the time of the sampling. The air samples were collected using Zefon Air-O-Cell cassettes and electric powered vacuum sampling pumps. Air samples were delivered, under strict chain-of-custody to EMSL Analytical, Inc. (EMSL) in Smyrna, Georgia, for mold spore analysis. All analytical results are presented as an attachment to this report. FINDINGS Factors affecting the interpretation of bio-aerosol air samples include the time of sampling, present indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, difficulties in quantification, and individual laboratory procedures. In general, if significantly greater spore levels are detected inside, either in total or by individual species, then bio-amplification has occurred. However, since molds do not always produce spores, the lack of indoor spore levels does not, in itself, indicate the lack of indoor mold growth. EMSL reported the following bio-aerosol air sampling results: 19710742 Classroom A-9 19710648 Classroom E-5 19710854 Classroom D-5 19710646 Classroom I-5 19710650 Walkway J Analytical results indicated the total mold spore counts to be less than the total spore count concentrations for the corresponding exterior (outdoor) air samples. In addition, no individual genera were detected at significantly greater concentrations than the corresponding exterior (outdoor) concentrations. These results of the aforementioned air samples are not indicative of bio-amplification. The laboratory analytical report is included in Attachment 1. 19710652 Walkway H Analytical results indicated the total mold spore counts to be significantly greater than the average total spore count concentrations for the corresponding exterior (outdoor) air samples. These results of the aforementioned air sample are indicative of bio-amplification. The laboratory analytical report is included in Attachment 1.

Mr. Marvin Wilson GLE Project No. 13000-13335 October 9, 2013; Page 3 GLE did not observe visible apparent mold growth during the initial investigation or the postremediation sampling event. Ventilation was provided to Walkway H through a series of exterior vents and a fan that exhausted air to the exterior of the walkway. The fan was reportedly operational on an as-needed basis. According to the Client, the area had recently been cleaned, which could possibly have aerosolized mold spores that were previously settled on interior surfaces, which may have entered the walkway through the exterior air supply. RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the results of the visual observations and sample analytical results at the times, locations, and conditions of the sampling event in classrooms A-9, E-5, D-5, and I-5 and within Walkway J, it is GLEs opinion that no further remediation is warranted within these sampled areas of the building at this time. Based on the sample analytical results within Walkway H at the time, location, and conditions of the final sampling event, GLE recommends continual air scrubbing using High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration units for approximately 24 to 48 hours. Additional cleaning of Walkway H may also be performed to reduce spore concentrations. Additional air sampling is recommended to confirm that Walkway H no longer contains elevated mold spore concentrations. LIMITATIONS Reasonable effort has been made by GLE personnel to locate and sample the affected area(s) for mold amplification. Mold growth may occur in various areas of a property where water/moisture leak(s) are not addressed. These areas include cavities/enclosures and adjacent building materials, which house plumbing/drainage lines and areas adjacent to the perimeter/enclosure system of the building. This investigation did not include additional samples in areas other than within classrooms A-9, E-5, D-5, and I-5 and within Walkways H and J. No destructive sampling measures were utilized during sampling; therefore, the potential for mold growth in these areas cannot be dismissed at this time. This report is intended to be used for construction activities; and is not intended to be used as a document to render health related opinions. The information contained in this report was prepared based upon specific parameters in force at the time of this report. The information herein is only for the specific use of the client and GLE. High levels of background particulate can obscure spores and other particulates leading to underestimation. Background levels of 5 indicate an overloading of background particulates, prohibiting accurate detection and quantification. Present = Spores detected on overloaded samples. Results are not blank corrected unless othewise noted. The detection limit is equal to one fungal spore, structure, pollen, fiber particle or insect fragment. "*" Denotes particles found at 300X. "-" Denotes not detected. Due to method stopping rules, raw counts in excess of 100 are extrapolated based on the percentage analyzed. EMSL maintains liability limited to cost of analysis.
