The False Teachers: Benny Hinn

Along the way we have visited such figures as Arius, Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White and Norman Vincent Peale. Today we turn to one of the most outrageous charlatans of our time, a man who claims to have healed countless people. His name is Benny Hinn. Benny Hinn

Toufik Benedictus Hinn was born on December 3, 1952 in Jaffa, Israel (modern-day Tel Aviv), the son of a Greek father and Armenian mother who had immigrated from Greece. He was raised in the Greek Orthodox tradition but educated in Roman Catholic schools. After the Six-Day War, he and his family emigrated to Canada and at the age of nineteen he professed faith in Jesus Christ. He immediately became involved in the Pentecostal movement in Toronto and was mentored by Dr. Winston Nunes of Broadview Faith Temple. In December 1973 Hinn traveled with other Christians to Pittsburgh to attend a miracle healing service led by Kathryn Kuhlman, the foremost faith healer of that day. Though Hinn

3 never met Kuhlman personally, she left an indelible impression on him, and at that service he had a life-changing religious experience. Shortly after, he received a vision of people falling into a roaring fire and heard the words: If you do not preach, every soul who falls will be your responsibility! Later that year he began to preach and claimed that at this time God miraculously cured him of a terrible stutter. He soon began to imitate Kuhlman and even to sponsor services endorsed by the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation. In 1979 Hinn moved to the United States of America, settling in Orlando, where he met Suzanne Harthern, a pastors daughter who would become his wife. In 1983 Hinn founded Orlando Christian Center and began to perform miracles and conduct healing services, claiming that God was using him as a conduit for these supernatural deeds. Soon his Miracle Crusades were being held around the world and, by 1989, were being televised across America. The daily talk show This Is Your Day followed, and is now broadcast in over 200 nations around the world. In 1999 he handed the leadership of Orlando Christian Center to Clint Brown so he could focus entirely on travel and crusades. Millions, or even tens of millions, attend his crusades each year. The largest event to date took place in Mumbai, India, where over seven million people attended over a three-day period. He claims to have preached the gospel to over a billion people, either faceto-face or through television. In recent days Hinn has been the subject of scrutiny on a number of fronts. In 2010 his wife filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. This was shortly after the National Enquirer published photographs of Benny Hinn and fellow televangelist Paula White walking out of a Rome hotel hand-inhand. However, nearly three years later, Benny and Suzanne were remarried at The Holy Land Experience theme park in Orlando. His claims of miracles remain unverified despite a host of programs and publications that have looked for evidence. He has also been widely criticized for his lavish lifestyle, which includes a private jet, a multi-million dollar mansion, and regular stays at hotels costing thousands or tens of thousands of dollars per night. This extravagance led to United States Senator Chuck Grassley announcing that the United States Senate Committee on Finance would be investigating Hinns ministry.

False Teaching - Faith Healing

Critiques of Benny Hinn can span a multitude of areashis Word-Faith theology, his little god theology, his claim that

4 each person of the Trinity is actually his own trinity, his outright lies about his accomplishments, and much more besides. But for our purposes, we will recognize him as the worlds most recognized faith healer. Hinn teaches that God intends for everyone to be healed of all of their diseases. If people simply have the faith to believe they can be healed, God will heal them through the agency of a healer like himself. Hinns crusades are carefully constructed to lead and manipulate those in attendance, with singing and repetitive music that build a particular atmosphere and sense of anticipation. These crusades crescendo in a time where he announces that God has begun to heal people and he then invites those people to come to the stage to tell what God has done, a technique that was mastered by Kathryn Kuhlman and has since become a staple of faith healing. Hinn claims that God is working powerfully through him to heal others and begins to list those miracles, usually starting with ones that are invisible and unverifiable at the momentdiabetes, depression, and the like. As the healings begin, many people come forward, hoping for their own miracle. Generally, though, only people who claim to have already been healed are showcased on the stage where Benny speaks to them and then often slays them in the Spirit. In this way he has manipulated countless people to give money to his cause, believing that giving money will be key to activating their miracle. Not a single one of Hinns miracles has ever been verified, though many have been proven to be temporary or false.

He has also perfected faith healing techniques that have been imitated by a host of others. He is the worlds best known and most notorious faith healer.

Benny Hinn, Ex-Wife to Wait on 'God's Plan' Before Remarrying

Reconciliation Is Rapidly Taking Place

Benny Hinn in writes: The last three years have been very painful for Suzanne and me and for the childrenmore painful than we can ever describe. Our marriage died for two reasons. First of all, when my precious Lord Jesus called me into ministry I promised Him I would give my all to

After our marriage ended, Suzanne decided that she needed professional help to gain freedom from her chemical dependence and checked herself into the Betty Ford Center in early 2010. And for three and a half months she underwent exhaustive treatment. Today she is totally set free from the need for these medicationsshe is completely wholeand for that I give the Lord Jesus the praise. The truth of the matter is that Suzanne filed for divorce because she was in a deep emotional and physical crisis that affected her in such a way that caused her to make a decision she now regrets. And although it was, without question, the most agonizing two and a half years of my life, the end of our marriage most certainly woke me up, and the Lord used it to show meas a man of God and as a manthat I cannot function properly without my wife and family. Suzanne Hinn's Drug Problem Caused The Divorce?

It seems that we have heard this before, quoting Adam, "The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate it" (Gen. 3: 12). You would have at least thought that Benny would have been smart enough not to have used that line. But, then again, what can we expect? Excuses! Excuses! Excuses! "But they all alike began to make excuses" (Lk. 14: 7). Now, we blame Suzanne for being a drug user and now we want to give her another excuse that she is possessed with demons. What nonsense! The problem here is sin. She's married to a man who cares more about money and his reputation than he has for his wife. He's supposed to be a "pastor" or "evangelist" and he has neglected his wife and family and has given other people the idea that he has been victimized by a drug addicted wife or possessed woman. What nonsense! So, let's put some blame and responsibility for "the husband" who is supposed to be the "head" of his family making sure that they are getting the spiritual leadership (Eph. 5: 23). I have compassion for his wife and children because they just don't really fit into "the big show" but "the woman whom you gave me caused me to do this". No, there is no escaping Benny's irresponsible neglect of his wife and family who cannot live with an "adulterer" who uses her as his excuse for sin. It's so easy to look back over 15 years of neglect and someone who has replaced the love of his wife with the "love of money". Here the victim becomes the excuse for sin. "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs" (1 Tim. 6: 9 - 10). Let the blame fall where it is supposed to fall - upon Benny with his love of money. And, let's look at

Benny and Suzanne Hinn may soon offer more convincing proof that God really is a God of restoration. During a Miracle Crusade in New York on Thursday night, Hinn announced that he is reconciling with his exwife, Suzanne.

Pastor Benny dropped a bomb on us tonight, Maurice Sklar, a violinist and founder of Maurice Sklar Ministries, posted on his Facebook page. He and Suzanne have reconciled! He announced that they will be remarried in December! I just about fell off my chair. I nearly broke down on stage. What an amazing God we have! Now, THAT IS A MIRACLE! Praise the Lord! I am so happy to hear this good news! After more than 30 years of marriage, Suzanne filed for divorce from the televangelist in February 2010 citing irreconcilable differences. At that time, Hinn issued a statement saying he was shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice. With regard to the reconciliation, it was Suzanne who may have been surprised to hear the news of a wedding date. A friend close to the family told Charisma News, The announcement was premature, but please keep the process in prayer. After Suzanne filed for divorce, Hinn admitted that he contributed to the demise of his marriage by putting ministry over his family. He said he often preached that ministry comes first, acknowledging that he knew that teaching hurt his children. What does it really matter. This is probably nothing more than a publicity stunt so that more books can be sold and more attention given to a public ministry of excess that has been exposed in recent years. Come on. White suits, slick & weirdly-styled hair, expensive hotels, first class travel, huge homes, luxury vehicles, and massive financial holdings by those at the top. Crusades in poor nations with offerings taken from people who have little or nothing. I truly hope that their marriage can be restored. When Moses brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, the Word of God tells us that they spoiled the Egyptians (Exodus 12:36). But notice that the wealth of the Egyptians was given to the Israelites just before they left Egypt. The wealth of the Egyptians was not given to them while they lived in slavery. It was given to them right before they left! Let me add something extremely important: The wealth of the Egyptians was given to Israel after the blood was applied, not before! They were a saved people, a delivered people, when they received the wealth of the Egyptians! The Word of God says that what happened to Israel is a shadow, and we,

the New Testament church, are the substance of that shadow. What happened to them was our example, and what happened to them will surely soon happen to us; for just before we leave this world, right before the rapture of the church, God will give us the wealth of this world. The Reason for the Coming Transfer was given the wealth of the Egyptians so they might build the Tabernacle in the wilderness. Just remember, Israel did not go shopping in the wilderness. There was no place to shop. None of them were sick in the wilderness, for the Lord was their Healer. They did not need medication. Nor did they need hotel rooms. There were no expenses in the wilderness. God gave them the wealth of the Egyptians so they could build His Tabernacle! And the Lord will do the same for you. He will give you the wealth of the sinner so you can support the Gospel as it goes to the nations of the world. A wealth transfer is truly on the way! In fact, the Word of God tells us that a good man leaveth an inheritance to his childrens children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just (Proverbs 13:22). A wealth transfer is coming! The house of the wicked loses; on the other hand, the house of the righteous flourishes: The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish (Proverbs 14:11). That is definitely a wealth transfer! Loss comes to the wicked, but gain comes to the righteous: In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble (Proverbs 15:6). The righteous gain and the wicked lose! This is the Word of God I am giving you! The Bible says that the wicked will prepare wealth, but they wont enjoy it (Job 27:13-19). The righteous, the just, will put it on. The wealth of the wicked is given to the innocent, the righteous. And the just will receive it for the preaching of the Gospel! The Gospel Must Be Preached These are powerful and glorious promises we must claim today, for God gave them to us as His children. Remember, righteousness puts you and me in line for true biblical prosperity! And I believe that God Almighty is preparing us for that glorious day. Faithfulness is the key to prosperity: Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2). Only the one who obeys the Word of God will receive prosperity on that day: He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor. He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination (Proverbs 28:8-9). The man who loves and obeys the Word, who pities the poor, will be blessed by God. The Gospel must be preached! The Lord said to Abraham, I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). God surely wants to bless you and make you a blessing. To finance the coming harvest, God is looking for a people to bless, for the coming harvest is the winning of the lost around the world. Without doubt, it is on the way, and God is preparing us for that glorious day. Will We Be Found Faithful? The Lord Jesus reminds us, If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? (Luke 16:11). I believe that God Almighty is watching everything we do for Him

today to see if He can trust us when that blessed move begins! How can God trust the unfaithful with His glorious power and anointing the invisibleunless He can trust them first with the visible? That is why our Lord Jesus said, Give, and it shall be given unto you (Luke 6:38). Not only will it will be given now, but I believe He also means that it will be given on that day, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. That is why Paul the apostle declared, But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6), not only now, but also on that day when the wealth transfer begins! What we do today will count toward what happens tomorrow, in the future, and also on that day when that wealth transfer starts! He was trying to come off as an "Oh, shucks" victim of his divorce... he's "being attacked".... but he "prayed and prayed about it"... but what he DIDN'T do was simply get rid of the lawyers and do what a real Christian would do.. settle it on the courthouse steps, turn the other cheek, perhaps... He actually asked his sheep to pay his legal fees! Now... why don't I have $600,000 legal fees? How does a person accrue $600,000 in legal fees? Why would he ask his sheep to feed the world's system for his own personal benefit? And why would people want to pay his legal fees??? That's GOT to be illegal! Lying Benny Hinn Never Met Kathryn Kuhlman At All

One person, however, was not content to be only one of many. Benedictus Benny Hinn has made a career out of claiming Kuhlmans legacy as his own, despite his espousal of theology she would find heretical and practices she would judge abhorrent. Hinn attended a Kuhlman meeting in Pittsburgh in December of 1973 at the urging of a friend. During the meeting, Hinn experienced shaking sensations and felt that Kuhlman was speaking to him as she explained the role and person of the Holy Spirit. This was the beginning of his fixation on Kuhlmans ministry. He attended many Kuhlman meetings over the next two years, and listened each night to Kuhlman on WWVA, a Wheeling, West Virginia radio station. Hinn claimed to be invited by a Kuhlman representative to attend a Pittsburgh service in November 1975 in order to meet Kuhlman afterward. The meeting was cancelled due to Kuhlmans illness, and Hinn returned to Canada without meeting her. Kuhlman died in February. Hinn would later write and speak about Kuhlman in terms so easy and familiar that an uninformed observer would assume they had known each other for years. However, I did not check the religious news wire before heading out of town on Friday, so it was against the backdrop of the Tiger Woods press conference that I read the news about Benny and Suzanne Hinn around suppertime. The original crusades he conducted in Toronto, Canada were held in the church that was the base for the mail order business I operated. The Joyful Noise Record Club had customers across Canada, and later became Searchlight Music, a company I still own in another form. Gordon Driver, the name now known to many of you for the Ponzi scheme involving the hosts of 100 Huntley Street, Canadas daily Christian television talk show, was about to be married, and people from various ministries operating in the Toronto church were invited to the wedding. Some of us apparently were invited at the last minute. I had no date for the wedding, and as I remember it, neither did Benny Hinn. We talked briefly waiting for the door for the reception to open, but I was terrified he would suddenly lay hands on me, cause me to fall over, or announce to everyone some great secret sin probably lust that I was harboring at the time. Fortunately, we were seated at different tables. Bennys ministry in Toronto was somewhat high profile at least among Charismatics but nothing compared to the size and scope of it when he moved to Orlando and married the daughter of Charismatic pastor Roy Harthern. The website Precious Daily Devotions tells the story: In the summer of 1978, on a flight returning from a conference in Singapore, Benny Hinn met Roy Harthern, an Englishman who was pastoring the Calvary Assembly of God in Orlando, Florida. They got to know one another on the long flight. Roy

27 showed Benny pictures of his family. When he came to the photo of Roys daughter, Suzanne, Benny heard a voice inside him saying, Shes going to be your wife. Roy Harthern invited Pastor Benny Hinn to come to his home for Christmas, he accepted. When he met Suzanne, Benny remembers jokingly, I looked into her beautiful bluish-green eyes and my knees became weak. When his friend Maxine LaDuke met Suzanne, she took Benny aside and confirmed that this was his wife. Benny knew she was the one. He took Pauline Harthern aside to ask her something. Pauline thought he wanted to ask her permission to date Suzanne, but instead, he said I want to marry Suzanne; I am in love with her. Well, well, Pauline replied, you really need to speak to her father. When Roy gave his approval, Benny Hinn immediately went to find Suzanne. Suzanne accepted and Pastor Benny Hinn and Suzanne tied the knot on August 4, 1979. The rest, as they say, is history. Hinn catapulted to fame and infamy, as Wikipedia reminds us: By far the most controversial aspect of Hinns ministry is his claim to have the anointing, the special power given to him by God to heal the sick. At Hinns Miracle Crusades, he has allegedly healed attendees of blindness, deafness, cancer, AIDS, and severe physical injuries. Since 1993, however, investigative news reports by programs such as Inside Edition, Dateline NBC, the Australian edition of 60 Minutes, and several network affiliates in the United States have called these claims into question. Hinn made a number of unfulfilled (religious) prophecies for the 90s, such as God destroying Americas homosexual community in 1995, the death of Fidel Castro, the election of the first female president of the USA, the East Coast of the United States being devastated by earthquakes, etc., all before the third millennium. Hinn also appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network in October 1999 to claim that God had given him a vision that thousands of dead people would be resurrected after watching the networklaying out a scenario of people placing their dead loved ones hands on TV screens tuned into the stationand that TBN would be an extension of Heaven to Earth. Again, I have no reason to link the divorce announcement to anything to do with Tiger Woods except to say that it was against that context that I heard the news. But maybe thats not it at all, maybe Im also reading into this story against the backdrop of the post I wrote last week about Todd Bentley. (But again, theres been no inference of infidelity, the grounds for

28 divorce filed are irreconcilable differences.) Another celebrity. Another Charismatic evangelist. Another divorce. There are two sides to every story, and Hinns people have allegedly already started going into damage control mode, and not everyone is buying it. Its all so very sad. To those of you who are just starting out in your journey of faith, or building a ministry, remember: You are responsible for the depth of your ministry; God is responsible for the breadth of your ministry. Dont aim for crowds, respect, praise or what some would consider success. Because success and praise always come at a cost; the adulation of the crowds always comes at a price; and then, if you fail, you take down all the people who worshiped you. Suzanne Hinn filed the papers in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1, citing irreconcilable differences, after more than 30 years of marriage. The papers note the two separated on Jan. 26 and that Hinn has been living in Dana Point, a wealthy coastal community in southern Orange County. Hinn is one of the best known advocates of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that Christians who are right with God will be rewarded with wealth and health in this lifetime. His TV broadcasts on the Trinity Broadcast Network, a Pentecostal broadcasting juggernaut, and other TV networks are seen by millions of people around the world nearly every day. He travels the globe in his ministry's plane, named Dove One, holding events he calls "Miracle Crusades" that include spiritual healings. Hinn has never fully publicly disclosed how he spends the money he raises, but his vast ministry is believed to be a multimillion-dollar operation. There was no mention of finances

Over the years, Hinn has been the target of intense criticism from fellow Christians and watchdog groups who call his teachings false and accuse him of raising money only to enrich himself. He is one of six televangelists under investigation by Sen. Charles Grassley, the Iowa Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, over whether he complied with IRS rules for nonprofits. Hinn has said on his Web site that external auditors ensure his compliance with IRS regulations and that in 2008, 88 percent of the money he collected was spent on ministry. Benny Hinn Ministries is based in Grapevine, Texas, and operates a church and television studio in Aliso Viejo in California's Orange County, according to its Web site. Big bucks paid by Africas poorest to hear TV evangelist I have become accustomed to American television evangelists raking in huge amounts of cash while pleading poverty in their appeals for ever-increasing needs for money. For years, I received letters in the mail from many of the nationally known ministries that whined that unless I gave to their cause, their ministry would go belly-up and gazillions of people would never hear the Gospel and be lost forever. One man, now fallen from the scene, said that, unless he reached the world, the world would not be reached. A number of these ministries have come under the scrutiny of the federal government. And no wonder one such evangelist lives in a $10 million parsonage. Another television minister is reportedly building a mansion costing several millions of dollars while, at the same time, his ministry is laying off staff, cutting jobs, freezing wages, and halting matching contributions to the employees retirement accounts. But I have also become accustomed to Americans fawning over celebrity preachers and throwing their dollars at them with no apparent regard as to the celebrities personal integrity or their

33 lack of financial accountability. However, one man takes the cake. According to an article in www.allAfrica.com, television evangelist Benny Hinn recently charged some of the worlds poorest and most destitute people admission to his religious services. Hinn reportedly encountered a loss of some $2 million (about 4.4 billion Ugandan shillings) on his recent visit to Uganda and two other African countries. Speaking on Light House Television, Hinn said: Most people are poor in Africa and it affected the recent crusades. According to the article, Unlike his 2007 visit, when entrance was free of charge, this time participants had to pay $50 (110,000 shillings). A similar report was posted in The New Vision, which is advertised as Ugandas leading website. When I read that Hinn was charging the Ugandan people 50 bucks to attend his meeting, I have to admit that I was stunned. Ugandan citizens are among the worlds poorest, with the average income in the neighborhood of $300 per year. A staggering 69 percent of the people live on less than a dollar a day, and most of that is spent for food. According to the Ugandan Daily Monitor, the nation is currently in the grip of a famine that has affected 51 of its 80 districts and people are literally starving to death. The average life expectancy in Uganda is less than 49 years and 48 percent of the people do not have access to safe drinking water. When I visited Uganda in 1998, I watched people work all day hauling banana stalks, a back-breaking task in the relentless, broiling sun, for $2 a day. While $50 may not be much to most Americans, for an average Ugandan citizen, it is a fortune. Most Ugandans are farmers on small plots of land used for subsistence agriculture. Some are able to raise a small amount of coffee or tea to sell, but most Ugandans have to work two or three jobs just to survive. Hinn said that ... much as some people may not want to hear him talk about money, it is important to have money to do Gods work. He, however, pledged to continue with the healing crusades. It's amazing to me that the Lord mentions deception four times in one chapter. He warns us against deception. Now, if any one of us shrugs-off this warning, or treats these warnings lightly, we do so at the risk of our own souls. This is coming from the Son of the living God, Who says: I warn you, in the last days, they will arise false prophets with signs and wonders that will deceive many. I'm gonna be very bold with you. There was a so-called revival recently in Florida that was NOT a true revival; that was NOT a move of God, and THOUSANDS of people flew from all over the world believing God is in it! And I'm glad, thank God for the Assemblies of God who stood against it, and said it's not a real move. Somebody had to say something about it. Now precious people I think it's time you understand--not every evangelist is a true servant of God! And not everyone who mentions the name "Jesus" is a servant of God! Signs and wonders happen in the demonic realm also. Just because people fall under the power, it doesn't mean it's God. In Israel, there is a sect. In Judaism, mystical Judaism, where people fall under so-called power. It's nothing to do with God! People do even in certain religions--taken over by some power. Be careful. 20/07/2008 - (SA) Marthinus van Vuuren, Rapport Johannesburg - God's blessing would last only two minutes and it would create 500 churchgoing millionaires or even billionaires - all they had to do was use their credit cards to pay $1 000 in offerings to televangelist Benny Hinn. Pastor Tommie Ferreira of the AGS Church in Johannesburg was so upset about the "blessing" that, after a week, he wanted to know who of the donors actually had become millionaires. Ferreira told Rapport he did not mean to bring about Hinn's downfall. He merely wanted to know if any of the hundreds of churchgoers who donated amounts of up to $1 000 (about R7 500) to Hinn's Miracle Crusade last week Saturday had now become millionaires. About 18 000 people streamed to the Coca-Cola Dome in Randburg to hear Hinn's message of healing and miracles. Ferreira, who is a keen choir singer, voluntarily sang in the Miracle Crusade's choir. He said one of Hinn's American guest speakers, Pastor Todd Koontz, spoke about financial burdens and said 500 audience members would receive "an exceptional blessing".

36 "He said the service would yield millionaires and billionaires within 24 hours. "Everyone had to donate $1 000 because an exceptional blessing rested on $1 000." Koontz apparently really had the congregation scrambling when he said, "This blessing will be poured out for only two minutes." Had credit-card machines Ferreira said: "People stormed to the front - poor people, rich people, people from all sections of our society." Hinn's co-pastors apparently had credit-card machines ready with which they could take donations. "He (Koontz) said God would bless the people's credit cards and they would be able to rule over South Africa with their money. "Eventually there were no fewer than 1 000 people who made such donations." According to Ferreira's calculations, Hinn must have collected millions of rands with these donations - perhaps more than R7m if each of the 1 000 church-goers donated $1 000 in the hope of becoming millionaires. Furthermore, after Koontz's collection of the $1 000 donations, Hinn collected general donations. Ferreira said: "It makes my hair stand on end." He said he could not live with his conscience if he did not speak to others about this possible trickery. Still collecting money "I'm not attacking them (Hinn and Koontz). It just really gets my goat when people make unfounded claims and then they're off with these people's money." Dr Sarel Smit of the AGS church Lofstad in Hursthill, Johannesburg, who supported Ferreira as he spoke to Rapport,

37 was equally worried about the method by which Hinn collected donations. "Especially at a time like this when there is dire need, people run the risk of losing their faith in the Lord in this way. God will provide for your needs, but not your greed." Rapport spoke to an employee in Hinn's South African office in Durban who said on Friday morning that they were still busy collecting money. "We've had a very good reaction from last weekend," said the employee, who asked not to be named. He said that before the collection of the $1 000 donations, Koontz had delivered a message about "you reap what you sow". "Americans always talk in dollars. If some of the churchgoers believed that they would not be blessed, then they should not have given their money. "The church-goers did not have to give $1 000. If they couldn't afford it, then they could've given less. And, some of them did. Will build an orphanage "Pastor Todd (Koontz) spoke of good seeds. If you don't actually sow them, you'll never have a good harvest." The employee told Rapport that Hinn's congregation soon would build an orphanage in South Africa. Hinn's South African office feeds about 1 000 children in Durban daily. Rapport asked for a recording of Koontz's sermon, but Hinn's office said they could only provide one in four to six weeks.

The investigation also scrutinized five other televangelists: Paula White, Kenneth Copeland, Eddie Long, Joyce Meyer, and Creflo Dollar.[17] In March 2005, Ministry Watch, an independent evangelical organization which reviews Christian ministries for financial transparency and efficiency and advises potential donors accordingly, issued a Donor Alert stating that "the reported exorbitant spending of the Hinn family reveals that BHM has far more money than it needs to carry out its ministry" and advising Christians to "prayerfully consider withholding contributions to Benny Hinn" while praying for his restoration and repentance.[6] Benny Hinn Ministries is not a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.[7] Hinn lives in an ocean-front mansion valued at an estimated $8.5 million in an exclusive gated community in Dana Point, California, travels by private aircraft, and stays in hotel rooms costing upwards of $3,000 per night.[8] In December 2006, he sent out a mailing asking

39 for donations towards a new Gulfstream G4SP jet valued at an estimated $36 million.[9] Starting in June of 2007, at the end of his This is Your Day program, Hinn stated he is behind in his bills to TBN and said he needs "your love gifts" so he can become current and continue to preach the gospel around the world. Hinn stated the cost of his worldwide crusades and the increased price of everything else has left him financially behind in his bills, but says TBN founders Paul and Jan Crouch have been very supportive. On August 24, 2007 the CBC Television show the fifth estate did a special on the apparent transgressions committed by Benny Hinn's ministry. With the aid of hidden cameras and crusade witnesses, the producers of the show attempted to demonstrate Benny's misappropriation of funds, his fabrication of the truth and, the way in which his staff chose crusade audience members to come on stage for televised healings. According to the show the seriously disabled who attend his healings are interviewed and then weeded out from ever getting the chance to come on stage. Instead, those who have minor injuries are brought up in their place. Benny Hinn claims proof from the faithful's doctors that healings have been successful. However according to the show none of these doctor notes have ever been produced as evidence to his claims. Hinn made a number of unfulfilled (religious) prophecies for the 90s, such as God will destroy America's homosexual community in 1995 or the death of Fidel Castro,[6] election of the first female president of the USA,[7] the East Coast of the United States will be devastated by earthquakes,[6] etc., all before the third millennium. Hinn also appeared on the Trinity Broadcasting Network in October 1999 to claim that God had given him a vision that thousands of dead people would be resurrected after watching the network -- laying out of scenario of people placing their dead loved ones' hands on TV screens tuned into the station -- and that TBN would be "an extension of Heaven to Earth." Hinn has also claimed that Adam was a "superbeing" who could fly to the Moon; that God froze the Red Sea with his breath when he parted it; and that Christ would make a personal appearance at a crusade in Nairobi, Kenya in 2001. In April 2001 HBO aired a documentary called "A Question of Miracles" on Hinn. [3] The director Antony Thomas told CNN's Kyra Phillips that they did not find cases where people were healed by Hinn.[4] Thomas told the New York Times about Hinn's claims, "If I had seen miracles, I would have been happy to trumpet it . . . but in retrospect,

Dallas Morning News courts reporter Mike Grabell Benny Hinn began his healing ministry in Toronto by hosting his own evangelical program on local television. His success in Canada inspired him to travel with his healing missions. In Orlando, Florida he met and married Suzanne, the daughter of a local pastor and it was there that Benny Hinn began to build his evangelical empire. Today he is known as Pastor Benny. Without doubt he is one of the best known and possibly richest televangelists in the world. Each year he travels the world conducting so-called miracle healing crusades that are very closely patterned to a rock concert tour. He produces a daily television show called This is Your Day from his studios based in California and has written several books about his life and ministry, which he markets and sells, along with video tapes of his crusades, music CDs and bibles. The World Healing Center Church, the Irving-based church run by televangelist Benny Hinn, is suing its former vice president of television operations, contending that he and his wife defamed the famous faith healer as wild and out of control. In the lawsuit filed last week in Dallas County district court, the church contends that Truett Hancock, an employee since 1992, and his wife, Malena, an employee since 2004, revealed confidential information about the church several times last month in breach of their employment contracts. Specifically, Truett has communicated to third parties that the pastor of World Healing Center Church, Benny Hinn, was wild and out of control, painted him as wicked and accused him of alleging death threats to other staff members, the lawsuit says. Toufik Benedictus Hinn, aka Benny Hinn, has been repeatedly exposed in the news media and through Internet websites, yet people continue to donate to his ministry and flock to his crusades, in spite of the prophecies that never came to pass and miracles that never transpired when the people were followed up months later. The latest expos on The Fifth Estate is just another `drop in the bucket' and a rehashing of the same revelations which came before it (CNN, Dateline, apologetic websites, books, videos, ad nauseum). Jesus lived a modest lifestyle and set the gold standard for righteousness. He never demanded the royal treatment, with private jets, motorcades, bodyguards, five-star hotels, expensive suits, luxury cars and mansions by the ocean. In fact, he took on the role of a servant, came riding on a donkey, and had no place to lay his head (which is the direct antithesis to Benny Hinn's lavish lifestyle). There's no mention of tailored suits, luxury cars and multi-million dollar mansions in exclusive gated communities. Even if Benny Hinn donates some of his ministry money to charity, it doesn't address the underlying fact that he is still living a life of material excess above and beyond his basic needs, which contradicts everything Christ stood for and preached. You can twist Scripture to justify anything (such as bringing up the fact that King Solomon was extremely wealthy and that since you're a child of God, you also deserve to live like royalty) but you cannot fool God. If it walks and talks like a duck ... then walk out because you're in the wrong pasture.

I did crisis work many years ago (sometimes with police accompanying me, sometimes not) where my life was threatened many times. I went into areas where the police wore bullet-proof vests when they came to assist me (we had none), where the police sent out a memo to all agency workers not to go into certain areas unless they were accompanied by the police (this was directly related to a case I was involved in). I was able to do this work because of my faith, which meant I prayed for protection, kept my head up and didn't knowingly do anything that anyone would personally want to harm me for. In the show, reporter Bob McKeown estimates Benny Hinn Ministries takes in as much as $250 million a year in donations and proceeds from sales of such items as autographed bibles. Hinn has also criticized the CBC for using hidden cameras and old footage he says depicts his wife just before she had a nervous breakdown. Benny Hinn insists that every penny is spent on God's work. But the fifth estate obtained confidential financial records from inside the Hinn ministry. But I don't believe we can just confess any Scripture and make it happen. But I'm going to focus on salvation as well as physical healing. I'm not the healer. If I did not believe God healed, I'd quit tomorrow and go get a job. If you will come back and make that pledge, God will heal your heart tonight. In the future, rather than focus on healing, I plan to focus on Jesus Himself, and let Him heal whomever He wills to heal. It's not been a pleasant life. Look, any amount I make, somebody's going to be mad. My mom has diabetes, my daddy died with cancer. That's life. No, I'm not wealthy. Now I have quit teaching such things, and I have made it clear that I no longer believe them. Our supporters support us for one reason, people pray for us for one reason - because of the healing ministry. Poverty is from the devil and that God wants all Christians prosperous. So we can't accept everything that comes our way, we have to be intelligent as Christians. The day is coming when there will not be one sick saint in the body of Christ. The Lord is showing me some things I have been wrong about. The teaching on prosperity has gone too far. There's the real and the genuine, and there's the phony. They are happier than many Christians I know in America who have everything. They think that God doesn't really heal, so these guys are just fooling the world. Though we are not Almighty God Himself, nevertheless, we are now divine. We believe our partners are entitled to know what happens to their money. We do way more than most ministries did in the past. We follow every healing and say go back to your doctor and make sure you are healed don't throw away your medication. We have documented miracles in our ministry that we done ourselves with doctors that we work with ourselves and they said no, they wanted people that they could document themself.

We receive by faith and we keep it by faith. What does God the Father look like? Although I've never seen Him, I believe - as with the Holy Spirit - He looks like Jesus looked on earth. What happens between them and God is between them and God. What was the appearance of God the Father? Like that of a man... God has the likeness of fingers and hands and a face. When God heals them, they can't go right back in that wheelchair again because then he did it. And God doesn't do it and then take it back. When I taught the little gods doctrine, I was using Scriptures that didn't fit. When it comes to the income of the ministry, I have no problem talking about it or what happens to the money. When one is born again by faith in Jesus, he is given a new spirit man that wasn't there before - a spirit man that is divine in nature and God-like. Ole Anthony president of the Trinity Foundation submitted a threeinch-think report to the Internal Revenue Service in an effort to show that Hinns ministry fails to meet the IRSs definition of a church. Hinn started a church in Orlando in 1983, then sold it in 1999. However, Benny Hinn Ministries (BHM) is still classified as a church. Anthony has a problem with that. Claiming himself to be a church, he doesnt have any accountability, he asserts. He has a revolving-door board of directors in comes somebody who disagrees with him, he changes the board; and so hes using that ministry [and] its well over a hundred million a year [that he is taking in] as his personal piggy bank. According to Anthony, Hinn lives in a $10 million parsonage, has charged to the ministry hotel rooms costing thousands of dollars a night, and provided thousands of dollars to family members for shopping sprees. Anthony fears that Hinns action are going to bring down the real churches if he keeps up these kinds of excesses. The evangelist, he adds, has absolutely no accountability hes just run amok. It is because of Hinns refusal to

51 be held accountable that MinistryWatch.com has issued a Donor Alert [PDF] encouraging donors to prayerfully consider withholding contributions to the ministry. BHM officials were given more than two weeks to comment on this story but did not return repeated requests for interviews.
William Lobdell, a Times staff, wrote about Benny Hinn and the target-rich environment: the unregulated industry of televangelism is estimated to generate at least $1 billion through its roughly 2,000 electronic preachers, including 80 nationally syndicated television pastors. He told of the founder of the Dallas-based Trinity Foundation, Ole E Anthony, whose operatives struck dumpster pay dirt five years ago in south Florida when they found a travel itinerary for Benny Hinn, the Trinity Broadcasting Network's superstar faith healer who has filled sports arenas with ailing believers seeking miracles cures. Hinn's itinerary included first-class tickets on the Concorde from New York to London ($8,850 each) and reservations for presidential suites at pricey European hotels ($2,200 a night). A news story, including footage of Hinn and his associates boarding the jet, ran on CNN's "Impact." In addition, property records and videos supplied by Trinity investigators led to CNN and Dallas Morning News coverage of another Hinn controversy: fund-raising for a $30-million healing center in Dallas that has yet to be built. Hinn and other pastors ask viewers to send in donations for both specific projects and for general expansion of the television ministry. Donors aren't told of the opulent lifestyles led by some of the televangelists, but that fact isn't too much of a secret either--perhaps because it fits nicely with the message of the Prosperity Gospel they are spreading. A quick computer search of homes owned by Trinity Broadcasting Network, for example, reveals 17 residences in Orange County alone, including two hilltop mansions in a gated Newport Beach community. There's a darker side to Hinn and his organization. In 1998 two members of his inner circle died of heroin overdoses. In 1999, after one of his many vows of reform, he fired several board members and hired an ex-cop named Mario C. Licciardello to do an internal investigation of his ministry. Licciardello was the brother-in-law of Carman, the popular Christian singer, so many think Hinn considered him "safe." But Licciardello did such a good job taking hundreds of depositions and getting to the bottom of the heroin use that Hinn then sued him. While Licciardello was still his head of security, the ministry filed a lawsuit demanding that all his files be turned over and sealed, because their public release could result in the end of the ministry. One day before Hinn was supposed to give his deposition in this case, Licciardello had a mysterious heart attack and died. The Hinn organization made an out-of-court settlement with Licciardello's widow, which included sealing the court papers. Hinn runs the largest evangelistic organization in the world that is NOT a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Responsibility. That means his finances are private, his salary is secret, and his income is anybody's guess. Royalties from his books alone are estimated at $500,000 per year, but he essentially has carte blanche to take anything out of the till he wants. "He lives the lifestyle of a billionaire," says Ole Anthony, "all on the backs of false promises and selling false hope."

As Hinn put it himself, in a moment of rare revelatory candor, "I don't need gold in heaven, I gotta have it now." During 1993, his one year of "reform," he talked about being stung by being portrayed as a millionaire and how he wanted to be "more Christ-like." His solution: "The Lord said sell the Benz and the watch." He got rid of his Rolex and his Mercedes. Notice he didn't give them away. He sold them and then replaced the Mercedes with a $65,000 BMW. This is what God told him to do. And who better to know what God wants, because Hinn, after all, is only the third person in the history of the universe to have actually seen God and lived to tell about it. God, he says, is 6-2 or 6-3, with long hair of a light brown color, and eyes that can look right through you. These facts, aired in March on NBC DATELINE coupled with Ministry Watch.coms previously stated concerns about Hinn espousing the self serving prosperity theology message has caused MinistryWatch.com to recommend that donors consider redirecting their gifts to one of the many biblically-based ministries that are not only more transparent in their dealings with the public but also treat donors funds as a sacred trust dedicated exclusively for the Lords work. Beverly Hills shopping sprees; Receipts showing Hinns daughter receiving $1,300 in petty cash; her boyfriend getting $2,550 for babysitting; $23,000 in cash dispersed to Hinn and his wife; and, $25,000 in cash for expenses for a crusade 30 minutes away from Hinns home; Hinn employs two primary methods to manipulate those that watch him promising healings to those afflicted with chronic or terminal ill nesses, and claiming that donations are seeds being planted by the donor that will result in the gift giver enjoying financial blessings; MinistryWatch.com Take Hinns refusal to be accountable to anyone rooted in a conveniently defiant view of accountability (he is to answer only to God since he receives extra-biblical words, hence the Word of Faith moniker) is the primary precipitant for each of the critiques amplified above. He is pastor, president, and chairman for life, he appoints the vice president (who is also a board member), Hinn picked the board, and he can suspend any board member. According to a June article in The Dallas Morning News, shortly after Hinn announced his move to Texas, he said God had told him to build a "World Healing Center," and Hinn appealed for money. As much as $30 million was collected, but the center was never built. In April 2000, he told Trinity Broadcasting Network's Paul Crouch, "I'm putting all the money we have in the ministry to get out there and preach. The day (to build the healing center) will come. I'm in no hurry; neither is God." Also about April 2000, Hinn's ministry began building a 58,000square-foot office building in Irving. A few months after that, in August 2000, a holding company that is a subsidiary of Hinn's ministry began building a "parsonage" -- a $3 million, 7,200-square foot oceanfront home -- in Dana Point, Calif. The Associated Press reported recently But while others like Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker and Robert Tilton have fallen from grace over the past two decades, Hinn plows ahead, relentlessly seeking souls and money.

Like some colleagues, he embraces his worldwide followers who say he has cured them, like heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield, who has credited Hinn with correcting his heart problem. For the most part, he brushes off scrutiny, though not always gracefully. He once wished aloud for a "Holy Ghost machine gun" to blow off the heads of his critics, who object to everything from his unverifiable healing claims to his perfectly coifed hair. While Swaggart's and Bakker's high-flying ministries were leveled by sex scandals, and Tilton eventually was brought down by reports of false promises and a legal battle with his first wife, Hinn has tripped over no such obstacles. Hinn has not joined the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, a sort of Christian Better Business Bureau to which evangelists such as Billy Graham belong. The council assesses the financial integrity of Christian organizations that join it. Nor has Hinn publicly acknowledged his salary, though he told CNN in 1997 that his yearly income including book royalties was somewhere between $500,000 and $1 million. A spokesman has said Hinn generates about $60 million a year in donations. CBC has estimated that Hinns revenue is around $250 milion a year. With an estimated total viewership of ten million, the money that TV preachers rake in by any reckoning, are immense. In his heyday Jimmy Swaggart was making close to US$140 million a year. The Bakkers were close behind with an estimated yearly income of US$130 million. Jerry Falwell netted, by his own reckoning, about US$60 million a year. The money, which was meant for their ministry, went to maintain their extravagant lifestyles. Swaggart bought himself a US$ 1.5 million mansion. In his show of fatherly affection, he bought another mansion, worth US$700,000 for his son, Donnie with money loaned by his ministry. The Bakkers had bought mansions and luxury cars, even the doghouse was airconditioned. WILLIAM LOBDELL, Times Staff Writer in an article titled For Critics of Extravagant Faith Healer Benny Hinn, the Good Book Isn't Enough. They Want His Ministry to Be an Open Book. Los Angeles Times Magazine, July 27, 2003 wrote: In an attempt to clear up his image, Hinn suggests meeting a Times reporter at the Four Seasons hotel in Newport Beach. Accompanied by bodyguards, Hinn arrives in his new Mercedes-Benz G500, an SUV that retails for about $80,000. He is dressed casually in black, from designer sunglasses to leather jacket to shoes. His trademark hair has been brushed forward, bangs hanging over his forehead like Caesar. Joining him at a table in the hotel's restaurant are a public relations consultant and two ministry associates, while his bodyguards and another public relations man wait in the lobby. Hinn fiddles with his cell phone, which sports a Mercedes logo. Because the World Healing Center Church is recognized as a religious institution, Hinn is not obligated under federal law to release information

publicly about its revenue or the identities of its board of directors. But at this meeting, he says he has nothing to hide. "I'll tell you this," Hinn says, a likable guy who is bewildered that he could generate so much hostility. "I'm an open book. I think it's time for me to just say, 'Let me give you the blunt truth.' " That's easier said than done. First, Hinn declines to divulge his salary. (He told CNN in 1997 that he earns between $500,000 and $1 million annually, including book royalties.) "Look, any amount I make, somebody's going to be mad," he says. He offers to make available his ministry's general financial picture, along with access to his accountantboth unprecedented. "When it comes to the income of the ministry, I have no problem talking about it or what happens to the money," Hinn says. "We believe our partners are entitled to know what happens to their money." But two weeks later, he backtracks, saying his board won't allow it. The pastor also promises to expand the ministry's three-member boardthe guardians of the nonprofitand to reveal their names. If they don't like the exposure, Hinn says, they can resign. Several months later, a Hinn spokesman says the board was expanded to five members, but the names will remain secret "for the board members' security." But just before this story went to press, Hinn and his board changed their minds and had their public relations consultant provide the names. The board veterans are Hinn; Bill Swad, described as an Ohio businessman who authors books such as "Don't Let Satan Steal Your Harvest"; and Steve Brock, a pastor and featured soloist for the Miracle Crusades. New members, according to the ministry, are Bob Inello, a businessman from Boston, and Doug Wead, former special assistant to President George H.W. Bush and author of "All the President's Children." Hinn does reveal that the $89 million taken in by his church in 2002 is a record for his Grapevine, Texas-based ministry, which has experienced double-digit growth during the past three years through direct-mail requests, viewer donations and offerings taken at the Miracle Crusades. By comparison, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn. had revenues of $96.6 million in 2001, the last year available. The hands of faith healer Benny Hinntools of a televangelist recognized around the worldare slim, almost feminine. The fingers are delicate, nails manicured and polished. A gold wedding band, so wide it covers the bottom of his left ring finger from knuckle to knuckle like a piece of copper pipe, bears the insignia of his church. The dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, sparkles with a cluster of diamonds. These small, soft hands could be one of two things: anointed by God to heal the sick, or props in a televangelist money-making scheme that preys on the vulnerable. Shades of gray aren't a part of the Benny Hinn story. Financially, at least, he's the world's most successful faith healer, having received $89 million in donations last year, according to officials with his

ministry, World Healing Center Church. His followers pack stadiums here and abroad for his free events called "Miracle Crusades." He conducts about 24 of these each year, traveling in a leased Gulfstream jet. Attendance averages 50,000 to 60,000 people over two days, with a crusade in Kenya two years ago drawing 1.2 million worshippers, organizers say. From his broadcast center in Orange County, Hinn's "This Is Your Day" show is one of the most-watched Christian TV programs in the world, with viewers in 190 countries. In the U.S., it runs on purchased air time more than 200 times each week on 80 stations, ministry officials say. The shows are translated into Spanish, Romanian, Norwegian, Italian, Hindi and Tamil. Hinn's disclosure in an interview that his ministry generated $160 million in revenue the past two years is a gold nugget of data that Christian watchdogs have been trying to get at for years. The Trinity Foundation, a nonprofit Christian watchdog group in Dallas, has sent undercover spies to infiltrate Hinn's ministry, as well as to dig through trash cans to gain access to financial records at the pastor's headquarters and television studios. "He promised me 10 years ago that his personal and ministry finances would be an open book," says Ole Anthony, president of the Trinity Foundation, dismissing Hinn's latest vow for more candor. "Hinn's incredible wealth and lifestyle does more harm to Christianity than all of his preaching." The Tampa Tribune in an article by Michelle Bearden titled Expensive Walls recently reported: TAMPA - When preachers Randy and Paula White bought the $2.1 million red-brick house on Bayshore Boulevard last month, they were already thinking ahead to November. ``We always do a `Table in the Wilderness' Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless,'' says Randy White, senior pastor at Without Walls International Church. ``Now that we have the space to do it in our own yard, we'd like to find a way to bus them here for the party.'' The Whites, who came to Tampa 13 years ago, say they sometimes worried they wouldn't have rent money after they started their church in 1991. Last year, they claimed a combined income of $600,000. Of that, $179,000 is Randy White's annual salary from Without Walls, a church that claims 15,000 members and brings in $10 million yearly in revenues. Co-pastor Paula White, who is gaining international acclaim as a televangelist and speaker, is paid $120,000. They also receive an $80,000 housing allowance from the church. The Whites did not reveal whether they had borrowed funds from their ministry to purchase their home as many TV evangelists have done including Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggart. Roberts' two California homes, partly for security reasons, have not been discussed much by the ministry. His house in Palm Springs, purchased for $285,000 and financed by a Tulsa bank, was his only privately owned home. In 1982 ORU endowment funds were used to purchase a $2,400,000 house in a high-security development in Beverly Hills. Considered a potentially profitable investment, the house served as Oral's West Coast office and residence.

Wall Watchers tax expert Rod Pitzer says federal law requires that any compensation salary and perks, including housing for ministers must be reasonable. "Reasonable" means that the benefits to Evangelist Joyce Meyer and her family roughly equal what other ministers in the St. Louis area get from their congregations, Pitzer said. For example, Pitzer said, Meyer's use of church money for five homes in South County for Meyer and her husband, and for each of their four children seems "abusive." But Meyer says there's nothing wrong with the ministry paying about $4 million to purchase, renovate and maintain the five homes. As she sees it, the ministry-owned homes are simply parsonages for her church. "Ministers either have a parsonage that their ministry pays for like the Pope lives in the Vatican, which is very nice or they can take a housing allowance and own their own house," Meyer said.

Jeffrey K. Hadden and Charles E. Swann in their book Prime Time Preachers stated: Billy Graham was embarrassed in 1977 when the Charlotte Observer discovered an undisclosed $23-million fund in Texas, apparently not mentioned in the accountings of the Minneapolis headquarters of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. As a result Graham's business manager led the formation of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability after Graham said on a national telecast, ". . . there are some charlatans coming along and the public ought to be informed about them and warned against them." Christian News Today reported that Franklin Graham wears jeans, boots, denim shirt, and leather jacket. He was a teen rebel who drank, smoked, fought, and led police on high-speed chases. He was kicked out of LeTourneau College. He used to be a rebel and a 'bum' got religion and become more sophisticated and formed "the Samaritan's Purse' so that he can fly around the country and charge things to his non-profit corporation. As a result his ministry, Samaritan's Purse, had a run-in with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. The ECFA suspended Samaritan's Purse while it looked into Franklin's (Graham) compensation and use of the company plane. Billy Graham has been accused of the following unethical deeds taking 100 % salary at 83 years of age and working less than 25 percent being a friend of Nixon and a bigot against the Jews writing a letter to Nixon to bomb the dykes of North Vietnam stating that he is unsure that heaven is a right place for him unconditional support of Clinton and his forgiveness of Clinton using a Ghost writer to write his books forming ECFA to protect his interests and cook the books supporting a son, Ned, who was a drunk, adulterer, immoral and had no integrity giving his ministry to Franklin who is as deceitful as his father and a bum and a thief

Although Billy Graham encourages religious leaders to be open about their salaries and publish their finances none of the Grahams reveal their total compensation nor release their personal income tax as President Bush does and former President Clinton has done. It's the law of the land that all non-profit chairmen of corporations must reveal their total salary and that Billy, Ned and Franklin do not speak volumes of their hypocrisy. The Associated Baptist Press - www.abpnews.com on April 3, 2001 also reported that "About half of Baptist organizations contacted by the independent newspaper Baptists Today would not disclose salary information for their top executive. Three Southern Baptist Convention entities said policies allowed them to release only salary ranges. Presidents Albert Mohler of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and Kenneth Hemphill of Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, declined to provide any information on compensation. New Orleans Seminary did not return numerous phone calls regarding the salary of President Charles Kelley. However, the IRS requires all colleges and universities to report the salaries of the top five paid staff members, Brumley explained."

The fact remains that multi-million dollars Family run Evangelistic Ministries in America be it the Hinn's of Orlando, the Straders of Lakeland, the Howard-Browne's of Tampa, the Falwells of Lynchburg, the Brights of Orlando, the Robertson's of Norkfolk, the Roberts of Tulsa, the Copelands of Forth Worth, and the Graham's of Minneapolis are notorious for hiding their total salaries and those of their family members and special friends in their indirect personally owned nonprofit religious corporation while they live in palatial palaces like kings and royalty. Unlike Jesus Christ who owned nothing, Televangelists Jan and Paul Crouch who lost their tax exemption for their Trinity Broadcasting Network are definitely not lacking in any material possession. Their home is described as "a palatial estate with ocean and city views and was purchased for around five million dollars. It has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a billiard room, a climate-controlled wine cellar, a sweeping staircase and a crystal chandelier. The three-story, nearly 9,500-square-foot house, has an elevator, also has a six-car garage, a tennis court and a pool with a fountain. Trinity Broadcasting, established in 1973, has more than 768 TV stations on the air worldwide. The Crouches oversee a $100-millionplus-a-year enterprise. One of the Crouch estates is TBN's ranch in Colleyville, TX, just minutes away from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The 80-plus acre ranch contains eight houses and horse stables, is estimated to be worth about $10 million. Mind you President Clinton did release his total salary and his personal income tax to the public while Evangelist Billy and Franklin Graham, Jimmy Swaggart, and Benny Hinn do not. Millions of people viewed that program throughout the world, and they were told a lie. Benny believes it. The devil does not believe it. We certainly do not believe it. No wonder so many "Christians" are DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. On March 16, 1997, CNN "IMPACT" had a profile of Benny Hinn and his ministry. What was revealed were FACTS, and was very negative. Some of the things THEY DISCLOSED were. His ministry operates in a "veil of secrecy" as it will not disclose the financial status. Benny Hinn's salary was $500,000.00 a year, not counting benefits, which are many. Ask yourself what YOU would do with that much money a year. He lives in a $650,000 home in a guarded development. CNN reported on one of Hinn's trips HIS hotel room was $2,200.00 a night. One of Hinn's former body guards was going to go public about Hinn's ministry and the money flow. The guard was paid $103,000.00 to keep quiet. He did. Hinn's ministry receives 15,000 to 18,000 pieces of mail a WEEK. Think there may be money in some of those envelopes? They have "forty people working 40 shifts" to handle all the mail. Hinn's ministry intake increased 50% since 1995. Hinn talks and acts like deceased Kathryn Kuhlman. "The only difference between the two is she wore a white dress, and he wears a white suite". When asked why he had to drive such an expensive car, Hinn said, "what do you want me to drive, a Honda?" On the CNN Impact Sunday Show of March 16, 1997 when questioned by CNN. Evangelist Benny Hinn had failed to provide for six months to CNN the promised financial statements of his ministry. Benny Hinn admitted that he made more money than the President of United States around $ 500,000 to $ 1,000,000. Personal profit which came to him as a result of love offerings, tithes and financial support given by the public and for which he and his friends refuse to give financial accountability while they hold others accountable for their spiritual state. Now If Benny Hinn wants to make a million dollars a year honestly, let him resign from the ministry and go to the private sector and do it. He and others are not entitled to make money from inside trading and complicity from their positions in the ministries.

If Benny wants to become a book writer and make money from his books let him leave the ministry and become a private individual. There is no justification under heaven and before God in becoming rich off the gifts and love offerings of God's people. The Pentecostal faith in Nigeria is a veritable goldmine, judging by the opulence of most of its pastors. It is made even more attractive because incomes of churches are taxexempt. Nearly all the churches are the private property of their pastors or founders and their immediate families. In an economic environment in which the majority of Nigeria's estimated 130 million population has been impoverished by unemployment, lack of basic social infrastructure and rising inflation, the church has become the last refuge for many people. The favoured churches are the new-generation Pentecostal assemblies, that are owned and managed solely by fast-talking American-style pastors. Rich and powerful Nigerians run after the pastors for "spiritual protection" from imaginary 'enemies' who, they are convinced, are lurking around the corner to pull them down. These are the big spenders in the churches. The attraction, perhaps, lies in the often-quoted biblical injunction that "givers never lack" and the fact that most pastors don't ask the donors how they make the money they give. Devoted service In March 2003, a cashier at a five-star hotel was arrested for allegedly stealing nearly 40 million naira (then about US$400,000) from his employer. His colleagues were shocked because there was nothing to suggest that he was living above his means - he had no car and he lived in a rented flat in a non-fashionable part of Lagos. The man confessed that he gave all the money to his Pentecostal church in cash and equipment. In another case a bank clerk stole 40 million naira from his employer and gave 10 million to his church as 'seed money' in the belief that the seed would germinate and yield several fold as promised by his pastor. Many Nigerians believe that a large number of pastors are honest and devoted to the service of God and mankind.
