Mentor Meeting Review

I. Complete the information below before your mentor meeting: What is the purpose of the meeting with your mentor? What goals do you hope to accomplish?

The purpose of meeting with my mentor this time is to expand on my topic and become more familiar with each other. I plan to learn more about him and just talk about our topic and get his opinion on a lot of the things I plan to research this year, and maybe show him my revised thesis and see if he recommends any changes.

II.

Complete the information below after your mentor meeting: A. Write a brief summary of what was discussed/accomplished at the meeting with your mentor:

We talked about his field of study and he expanded on exactly what he knows. After seeing my thesis, and learning more about the project and the paper length, he suggested that I focus my research on more specific events rather than only speaking in broad terms. Now, instead of talking about all the political music and such of the entire 20th and 21st century, Im going to focus on 4-6 specific events, such as one of the World Wars, the sexual revolution, the civil rights movement, and so forth.

B. How would you evaluate this meeting? poor satisfactory C. Explain your rating of the meeting:

excellent

exceptional

I think this meeting was excellent because of the effect it had on my research. Because of this meaning, my paper at the end of the semester will be much more clear and focused.

D. Did you meet your goals? If so, explain how, and if not, explain why.

I did meet my goals in this meeting. We talked for almost two hours, and we were able to touch base of everything I wanted to talk about. I feel like we both benefited from this meeting. I was able to find a focus for my project, and he was able to become more familiar with what he was required.
