Conservation work in downtown Beirut

Isabelle Skaf, Conservator, Lebanon In May 2006, a roman mosaic was lifted on the site known as the Garden of Forgiveness in downtown Beirut. The garden located between three mosques and three churches is destined to become a place of contemplation and reflection once construction and landscaping works are completed. The mosaic is one of the few archaeological features destined to be reintegrated on the site which has revealed during excavation tremendous archaeological richness.
