In celebration of the United Nations International Year of Youth, the Sri Lankan team of the British Councils Global

Changemakers are attempting to break a World Record on the 12th of August which is the International Youth Day. The attempt is to break the record for The Largest Human Mosaic with 1500 youth participants from all around the country. Participants will form the word YOUTH by standing together in formation. The event will take place at the University of Colombo Grounds and as part of the event; inspirational talks by noted Youth Activists, Youth Celebrities and Youth Ambassadors will be organized with the aim of encouraging more Sri Lankan Youth to get involved with social activism and volunteerism. Representatives from the Guinness World Records Committee will adjudicate the World Record Attempt and an Arial Photograph of the final formation will be taken. This is an opportunity for the Sri Lankan Youth to send shock waves to the international community to show the Unity and Strength that they possess. It is an open event for all Sri Lankans and especially to Sri Lankan Youth to be part of a world record, but more importantly to celebrate the joy, beauty and energy of YOUTH. This initiative is the brainchild of 6 British Council Global Changemakers from Sri Lanka (Sarah Jameel, Lihini Ratwatte, Sulakshana Senanayake, Sikander Shabeer, Mohomed Husni and Anoka Abeyrathna) who are current Youth Ambassadors/Social Activists and have thus attended numerous Youth Summits and High Level Meetings such as the World Economic Forum, Davos and Number 10, Downing Street.
