EDMODO - What is it? . Edmodo was presented on the first night of class. Edmodo can be used to engage students by continuing what they learned in class and can be used to poll students on things taught in class to gage their understanding. The children like earning badges for behavior or other items. Edmodo is a good resource for parents to connect with their childs teacher and their childs friends. The parent is given a code so they can see what is going on as well. Teachers can use Edmodo to communicate with their students about issues that concern or frustrate them.

CYBERBULLYING
Cyberbullying is a very serious and current issue with all of the technology that is being invented with each passing moment. Cyberbullying is bullying that occurs with the use of electronic technology. The effects of cyberbullying are wide. Kids who are bullied through these means are more likely to skip school or be unwilling to attend, use alcohol and drugs, receive poor grades, have lower self-esteem, may have more health problems and will often experience in-person bullying. One way to start helping with this matter is to have both parents and kids to sign a digital citizenship pledge. This is just an agreement of rules that both parent and kids are agreeing to follow when the child is allowed to use the internet and other electronic technology. Helpful Resources
There are many outside resources available for parents,teachers and students to help and enhance the learning experience. A variety of websites were viewed that can help all parties involved in education. Please take the time to visit some of the sites listed below: Quizlet which will allow you to make flashcards and test Owl and Mouse: Your Child Learns which will help with learning geography, states and where in the world Brain Pop for a variety of subjects Discovery Schools if your child learns better through puzzles Hoagies Gifted for activities for students who are gifted and need to be challenged more Photo joiner allows you to join multiple photos together to make a photo strip, this can be helpful in projects or poster Weebly allows you to create a free website or blog Popplet is a tool to develop graphic organizers and presentations Opened.io is an educational resource catalog that is aligned with Common Core Standards. It allows you to search for videos and games as well as create courses and playlist Jobtheweb allows you to create a guide to a series of websites and then allows the author to ask guided questions United streaming has free family resources such as homework help, motivation station and stepby-step Webmath. For teachers it offers lesson plans, puzzle maker and other resources. Administrators can use it for resources, common core support and professional development.

The Cloud
The cloud simply put is an application run on an Internet Service. The positives to using the cloud is that your media lives in a place not on your own device. This allows you to check your email from any phone or computer. As a result of this, if your hard drive should crash you would be able to instantly obtain all your files. This type of storing information also takes less computing power. However, with all things, there are some negatives. The first one is the need to be careful of the bandwidth and internet cost. The second thing is that you need an Internet connection to get your data. The third and maybe the most important thing is an issue of privacy. This can in part be managed by using strong passwords.

Cloud based programs

Animoto is a cloud based service that allows you to produce video slideshows from photos, video clips and music. It also has a moblile app. Prezi is a cloud based software that allows you to present a story on a virtual canvas. It allows you to create online or offline, collaborate with others and present from anywhere. It is great for businesses and conferences, education and informational visualization.

Survey Monkey:
Survey Monkey was discussed as a tool that can be used to gather responses about items needed by the teacher (parent contact information, opinions on class trips or an activity being presented) by creating a free survey for them to access online. whiteboard to teach the lesson.
