Authenticity of the Hadeeth:

In his Sunan, Al Imaam Ibnu Maajah (273 A.H.) narrates (#3932) from Abul
Qaasim Ibn Abi Dhamrah Nasr Ibn Muhammad Ibn Sulaymaan Al Himsi, from
His father, from Abdullaah Ibn Abi Qays, from Abdullaah Ibn Umar (radiyallahu
anhuma wa anhum) that he said, I saw Rasulullah (Sallallaahu alaihi wa
sallam) making Tawaaf of the Kabah and He was saying: How pleasant are you
and how pleasant is your fragrance! How great are you and how great is your
sanctity! By that being in whose control is the life of Muhammad (Sallallaahu
alaihi wasallam), the sanctity of a believer and his wealth and blood is greater
than you in the sight of Allah Taala, and that we only think good regarding
him.

All the narrators of this Hadeeth are rigorously reliable except for Nasr Ibn
Muhammad who is the Shaykh of Imaam Ibnu Maajah, some scholars regard
him as weak whilst others regard him as reliable.

Allamah Sakhaawi (rahimahullah) regards the Isnad (chain of transmission) of
this Hadeeth as Layyin (See: Al Maqaasidul Hasanah #1218 and Kashful
Khafaa #2676). This category is accepted in topics of virtues according to the
vast majority of the Muhadditheen.
Apart from this, there are many other Ahaadeeth which support this Hadeeth
of Sunan Ibni Maajah.

From the above we understand that although the Hadeeth of Sunan Ibni
Maajah may have some be weakness in it, there are many other narrations to
support it. Thus according to the principle of the Muhadditheen, this narration
will no more remain weak. Apart from this, the companions of Rasulullaah

(sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) are also reported to have said the very same
statement.
Imaam Tirmidhi (279 A.H.) narrates it in his Al Jaami (#2151) and Haafidh Ibnu
Hibbaan (354 A.H.) in his Saheeh (#5763) from Abdullaah Ibn Umar
(radiyallaahu anhuma) with an authentic chain of transmission.
The same statement is also reported from Abdullaah Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu
anhuma) in Musannaf Ibni Abi Shaybah (#28327) and from Abdullaah Ibn Amr
(radiyallaahu anhuma) in Musannaf Abdir Razzaaq (#9186).
Explanation of the Hadeeth:
Allaamah As Sindi (1138 A.H.) writes in his marginal notes of on Sunan Ibn
Maajah, (This is so) because the Kabah only received its sacredness due to
the Mumineen (believers). Allah Taala says,

( -)

Verily the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Makkah,
full of blessing, and a means of guidance for the worlds (Al Imraan: 96)
