Topics in this course include: health and safety standards, principles and methods of soldering, design and manufacturing techniques for printed circuit boards, design and manufacturing techniques for electro-mechanical systems, principles and manufacturing techniques of electronic enclosures, engineering drawing principles, production of engineering drawings. 39 3

Course Outcomes
Successful completion of this course will enable the student to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Describe the process from design through to assembly for an electro-mechanical assembly. Discuss the importance of documentation required to produce an electro-mechanical assembly Create circuit schematics and part models using CAD software. Design and route printed-circuit boards using CAD software Fabricate printed-circuit boards using CAM software and a prototyping mill. Populate a circuit board using appropriate assembly techniques. Create 2D and 3D free-hand sketches Create 3-D models of mechanical components using CAD software. Create detail and assembly drawings and Bills of Material using CAD software.
