Professional Goals PS 3

L. Suttie

#1 Goal and Rational: To develop a consistent and open relationship with students parents and guardians. Communication between teacher and parents can help aid in the students success in class, as well as create a supportive atmosphere for both the students and parent. Parent involvement and support helps to promote and maintain student success. Strategies Posting various assignments, rubrics and handouts onto Home Logic to allow parents to see what assignments their children have in my classes. Sending permission forms, and information forms, home to parents in plenty of time for them to contact me. #2 Goal and Rational: To introduce a wide variety of physical activity options to students, all with the major goal in mind of Doing it daily. The more activities that students are exposed to in a safe environment, the more likely they are to discover the type of physical movements they enjoy. When students enjoy being active they are more likely to be active for life and live a healthy lifestyle, all done in a safe and secure environment, both physically and emotionally. Not all students appreciate sports or specific activities, so a wide variety of activities will allow students to see the broad opportunities for being active in their life. A clear understanding of why we are doing specific exercises and activities will allow students to see the benefits of physical activity, and promote Doing it daily.

#4 Goal and Rational: To introduce, encourage, and foster an interest and knowledge about FNMI culture and people. Including FNMI tasks into physical education through cross-curricular lessons and cultural exemplars, allowing students more insight into FNMI people. Strategies Use of our school resources that are available to me, in order to incorporate FNMI games and culture into Physical Education, as well as my other courses. Ask students for cultural games that will not only include other cultural games, but be a great opportunity to incorporate FNMI culture and games. Teaching students about the northern games that I have played will be both educational and fun for students. Timeline Discuss the various resources available to me before classes begin, and begin to make plans within the first month of school, doing a thorough lesson of various FNMI games before Christmas.
