My Benchmarks

Academic: Communication
Academic: Communication Huckleberry Finn test from English 10. I completed this assignment in 2012 to demonstrate my knowledge of the book. To do well on this test, I listened actively by asking questions, I had to read simple and complex instructions, evaluate the quality of written materials, and write reports. In the human services field, I will need to be able to listen carefully, follow instructions and ask questions.

Academic: Mathematics

Academic: Mathematics Image of my Algebra C test review. I completed this review in 2012 to help me review for my chapter 13 test. To complete this assignment I preformed basic calculations, calculated fractions and percents, and used a calculator. In my future career, I will need to be able to use a calculator and perform basic math.

Academic: Science and Technology

Academic: Science and Technology Image of my zoo book and rubric. I completed this assignment in 2012 to demonstrate what I learned in biology class. To complete this assignment I used a computer as a tool, chose appropriate tools and applied my knowledge of life. In human services, I will need to be able to use computers to find information and apply my knowledge of life to a work setting.

Academic: Problem Solving


Academic: Problem Solving Photo of my 504 plan. I had to set up a 504 plan in 2013 to make sure that my rights as a person with Crohn's were protected at school, which had been a problem in the past. To do this, I had to identify the problem, find a way to solve the problem, and carry out my decision. In the human services field, I will need to be able to help people solve problems and carry out decisions.

Personal Management: Responsibility


Personal Management: Responsibility Image of my high school transcripts These transcripts show my grades all through high school, test scores and my grade point average. I looked up my transcripts so that I could send them to colleges. To keep my grades up I kept a good attendance record, met deadlines, and demonstrated self-control . In my future career, I will need to make sure that I have good attendance. I will need to meet deadlines and of course, demonstrate self-control.

Personal Management: Organization


Personal Management: Organization Image of my Spanish II binder. I made this binder in 2010 to help me keep track of my Spanish assignments. To do this, I set high standards for the quality of my work, took notes, and observed details needed to maintain my work. In my future career, I will need to keep all of my work organized and set high standards for myself.

Personal Management: Flexibility and Initiative

Personnel Management: Flexibility and Initiative Image of my advanced placement history test. I took Advanced Placement History class to expand my knowledge and to earn free college credit. I went beyond what was asked of me, accepted new responsibilities, recognized an opportunity for myself, and maintained a high standards with minimal supervision.
In my future career path, I will need to accept new responsibilities and maintain my work with little supervision. I will also want to go beyond what I am asked to do.

Personal Management: Career Development Photo of my Eastern Michigan University acceptance letter. I received this letter in October, 2013. I applied because I want to attend the school next fall. I developed a personal plan of action, set goals, and took steps to achieve my career goals. In the human services career path, I will need to be able to set goals and develop plans of action.

Teamwork: Communicating Photo of me with my Solo and Ensemble group. I participated in a Solo and Ensemble competition in 2011 because I like singing and I liked working with my group. While I was involved in this competition, I listened to different group members, expressed my own viewpoint, accepted positive criticism and gave feedback. In my future career in the human service field, I will need to listen to my co- workers, express myself, give feedback and accept positive criticism.

Teamwork: Responsiveness
Teamwork: Responsiveness Picture of my work group from my mission trip to Puerto Rico with the owner of the house we repaired. I went on the trip in June of 2013 because a group from my church was going and I wanted to go. I recognized the differences of gender and culture, accepted other cultural traditions, sought out an understanding of people different from me . Since I want to work with people from different cultures, I will need to accept cultural differences and try to understand them.

Teamwork: Contributing Photo of my leaders in training group from Camp Oasis. I volunteered at Camp Oasis, a free camp for children with Crohn's disease, in July of 2013. I volunteered there because I wanted to help kids who have been affected by the disease. I helped the team identify goals, made and set rules, helped the team develop to meet needs in the future, and showed commitment to the teams growth and improvement. In the future, I will need to be able to contribute to my work environment. I will need to be able to follow rules and help the team grow and improve.

Teamwork: Membership Photo of me at work. I started working at the Jackson district library in February of 2013 because I wanted to make money and I enjoy my job. At work, I inspire others to complete tasks, delegate work, carry out assignments and help others complete their tasks. In the human service field I will be working with people a lot, so I will need to be able to work as a member of a team.
