LDR controlled alarm system

LDR circuit is alarm circuit is a simple electronics project. The circuit schematic for magic eye alarm is shown below. It produces a beep sound when any objects is come towards the LDR

The advantage of this project circuit is that it can automatically send information to the owner of the home or any other place that a visitor is at the door , it can be used in many ways for security purposes. The circuit simply consists of a LDR with BC158 and BC187 transistors. Any electronics hobbyist can implement this circuit at your home or work places at a cheap rate ($0.5). The heart Of this alarm circuit is the transistor switching part. So this circuit always useful if you are sleeping at home and any unwanted thing is happening like any unknown person trying to get into your home without your permission.

Any object or person coming front to the LDR is detected using this simple project circuit. Firstly close the switch SW to turn ON the device.

Initially the potential at point A in the circuit is Vcc, so the transistor Q1 remains in ON state (Read transistor act as a digital switch) and its collector voltage at Vce sat (0.02V).

The collector voltage of Q1 is fed to the base terminal of transistor Q2 via100 resistor. 0.02V is not sufficient to turn ON the transistor Q2, hence it remains in OFF state and the buzzer will not produce any sound.

A connection from ground is connected to the LDR. When any object comes in front of the LDR, the ground comes in contact with the base terminal of transistor Q1. Thus it changes to OFF state and the collector voltage rises to Vcc.

The high voltage at the collector of Q1 turns ON the transistor Q2 since this high voltage is connected to the base of transistor Q2, then a current flow occurs though the buzzer circuit and it produces beep alarm sound. (Read transistor act as a load switch)

Here with buzzer circuit we have used a LED for simulation.

Positioning of water overflow alarm system

Place the LDR controlled alarm system close to a position which you would like to monitor or which is at risk of anyone comes escaping e.g. at windows ,at doors.

Place the LDR at the desired monitoring position. Whilst doing so make sure that the length of the connecting cable reaches the position where the alarm unit will be mounted. The height of the sensor contacts determines the water level at which an acoustic alarm is triggered.

Mounting Sensor
o Position the LDR at the desired position either by o laying the sensor on the surface with the sucker facing upwards o Or firmly pushing the sucker onto the surface. The surface here must be smooth and clean otherwise the sucker will only adhere for a short time.

Alarm Unit
Positioning without fixing o Stand the alarm unit in the desired position or lay it down with the loud speaker facing upwards. Wall mounting o At the mounting position drill two drill holes vertically aligned, 44 mm apart. o If necessary push the plugs supplied into the drill holes. o Fasten the screws supplied into the drill holes so that the screw heads project approx. 4 mm from the surface. o Hang the unit with the attachment holes onto the screw heads

Turning the alarm on and off

To activate the LDR alarm set switch to (melody) or (warning signal). After approx. 4 seconds the alarm unit emits a short signal tone. The LDR alarm is now activated. When both sensor contacts come into contact with water the alarm unit triggers either a warning signal (setting) or a melody (setting ). The warning signal or the melody stops when in front of the LDR no one is towards it or when the LDR alarm is deactivated. To deactivate the LDR alarm set switch to 0 .
