1. Goal(s) The learners will be able to apply the principles of Don Miguel Ruizs The Four Agreements to their lives

2. Prior Knowledge What is your general outlook on life?

Do you ever feel like other people have control over your thoughts and actions?

3. Learner Outcomes: After the lesson on the Four Agreements, students will be able to list each of the Agreements with 75% accuracy. After the lesson on the Four Agreements, students will be able to implement the teachings of the Four Agreements by giving one example of how each applies to their everyday life.

4. Assessment of Learner Outcomes: Blank handout about the Four Agreements that students fill in during the lesson.(DOK1) Discussion of personal examples of how students have or have not done their best, been impeccable with their word, taken something personally, or made an assumption.(DOK2)

5. Procedures: Have signs around the room with key phrases from 4 Agreements, discuss key definitions (Impeccable, Personally, Assumptions, Best), discuss prior knowledge, give handout, present lesson to class. After lesson, have students discuss among themselves how the agreements fit into their lives.

6. Questions: When was the last time you gossiped about someone? What does the word impeccable mean to you? What does it mean to take something personally? When was the last time someone did something to you and you allowed it to ruin your whole day? Have you ever told yourself something that has hurt your own feelings? 1

After the lesson on the Four Agreements, students will construct a symbol that fits in their life that will help them remember the principles of the Four Agreements.

Class will draw a symbol that reflects what the Four Agreements means to them. (DOK3)

After class discussion, have students create a symbol to reflect the Four Agreements that is meaningful to them. Provide paper for them to draw on.

What does the word assumption mean to you? When was the last time you made an assumption and it turned out to be untrue? When was the last time you let your mind come up with scenarios that you had no factual evidence for? What does it mean to always do your best? How does "doing your best" change from day to day?
