(Selection, Production and Utilization of Appropriate Technology Tools for Instruction)

The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. Technology comes from the Greek word techne which means craft or art. It refers to all the ways people use their inventions and discoveries to satisfy their needs and desires.

Refers to how people use their inventions and discoveries to satisfy their educational needs and desires, i.e. learning. These inventions and discoveries can be devices, tools, equipment, activities, procedures and processes. Thus, it refers to the application of technology in the educative process.

It means using learning technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills.
Educational media are channels or avenues or instruments of communication. Examples are books, magazines, newspapers, radio, television and Internet.

Technology serves as source and presenter of knowledge.

It is assumed that knowledge is embedded in the technology (e.g. the content presented by films and t.v. programs or the teaching sequence in programmed instruction) and the technology presents that knowledge to the student.

Educational technology serves as learning tools that learners with. It engages learners in active, constructive, intentional, authentic, and cooperative learning. Technology will not be mere delivery vehicle for content. Rather it is used as facilitator of thinking and knowledge construction.

1. To provide education in the use of technology in instruction by providing knowledge and skills on technology integration-in- instruction to learners.
2. To impart learning experiences in instructional technology-supported instructional planning.

3. To acquaint students on Information Technology or IT-related learning theories with the computer as a tutor.

4. To learn to use and evaluate computer-based educational resources.

5. To engage learners on practical technology integration issues including managing IT classrooms, use of the Internet for learning, cooperative learning through the use of information technology.

6. To inculcate higher-level thinking and creativity among students while providing them knowledge of IT-related learning theories.
