Leadership Experience

Summer Camp Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator June 2013August 2013 Beas Kids Carrollton, Texas o As Summer Camp Coordinator, I worked as a lead intern in creating and implementing a summer camp curriculum for an educational summer camp for low-income and at risk Kindergarten through 5th grade students in the Dallas area. I worked alongside a small group of interns to create 7 weeks of themed activities and field trips for the children. o After development, I managed the day to day running of the camp, leading and playing with the children, ensuring that all activities were running smoothly modifying them so that they were appropriate, relevant, and enjoyable for the children if needed. I was additionally responsible for making sure that lunches were ordered for the next day, and that all the children were safe and being well taken care of by volunteers and staff. o As volunteer coordinator, I was in charge of creating a volunteer schedule, providing a volunteer orientation for new volunteers, and leading a daily meeting focused on the plans for the day and what was expected of all the volunteers that day.

Teaching Experience

Teacher August 2013 present Merryhill School Trophy Club, Texas o Work as an afterschool teacher for the elementary school students. In charge of writing a weekly curriculum, maintaining the classroom boards, and keeping the classroom overall under control and organized. Each day, I would pick up the students from school, help them complete homework, and leading them in various activities until they were picked up by their parents. o Also served as a floater teacher, substituting in for other teachers (8 month old Pre Kindergarten aged) classrooms and following their curriculum plans.

Service

Success for Life Through Reading Volunteer August 2012present Tiny Tykes via the University of North Texas Denton, Texas o I served as a volunteer for the 2-year-old and toddler (12-18 month) class of Tiny Tykes (a daycare servicing low-income families in Denton). Each week entailed going to the Success for Life Through Reading office and selecting an age-appropriate book to donate and read to the class, creating a related activity for the children, and then reading to the children and directing the activity.
