Instructional Methods and Procedures Step 1 [ 5 mins.]: Hello everyone! How are you all doing? Tired? I know. That tends to happen towards the end of the week! Well, were going to do some self-exploration today, so get pumped! Before we do that though, lets do some reviewing. Who can refresh us on some of our personality vocabulary? Call out words even if you dont completely remember their meaning. We can work with the words in an organic way! What about egoist? Egotist? Extrovert? Misogynist? Students will call out words as others call out their definitions until we reach about ten or so. If they dont seem to have the courage to go ahead with it, Ill use my popsicle sticks to help them out! Step 2 [ 5 mins.]: Assignment explanation and room transition That was a wonderful review, ladies and gents! You guys knows more than you thought! As I said, were going to do some self exploration today. Were going to do this exploring in the Dell Lab, but before we go, Im going to project it and go over it with all of you. The first thing youre going to do is open up your e-mail account. Ive shared this Google Doc with all of your e-mails you provided me with earlier this year. Once there, look in your Google Drive for Jungs Personality Test Write up. You shouldve received an e-mail notifying you of my sharing it, but check in your drive to be sure. After you find it, you need to copy and paste this into another Google Doc. That seems complicated, but it really isnt. All you have to do is press Ctrl+A. Then press Ctrl+C. Then press Ctrl+V. Add Jungs Personality Test: Insert Your Name as the title. This is so you all arent trying to edit one Google Doc at once. That would be highly frustrating! Youre also going to need to share it with me at ms.mcbruno@gmail.com. Ill go over that again when we get into the Dell Lab, but I wanted to warn you! Ill proceed to go over the directions to the assignment highlighting our objectives. Does everyone understand?...Ok, so lets roll! Step 3 [ 30 mins.]: Personality test and research Alright! Weve made it! Its always nice to walk outside for a bit, get the legs moving and the heart pumping! Ok, log onto your computers and pull up your e-mail. Ill proceed to remind them of the new Google Doc creation and sharing it with me. You guys are going to do this self exploration on your ownmakes sense, right? So youre going to embark on this journey and hopefully know more about yourself on the other side. Students will follow the instructions, exploring themselves as they go. Step 4 [ 15 mins.]: Personality test reflection So most of you are finishing up and moving onto the last question. Youre going to need to be conscious of your personality type over the weekend, but in the mean time lets begin reflecting! On your Google Doc record your ideas that youve learned. Use at least two of your vocabulary words for sessions one through three in this reflection. Think of your interactions with people today, yesterday, when you were younger. Think of how you feel in a crowd, one-on-one, alone, etc. Think about situations that were brought up in your personality test and write about how you felt about them. In all

cases, though, be specific! Students will begin to reflect and do so for the remaining time in the Dell Lab. Closure [ 5 mins]: So class is coming to a close. What did you guys learn on your self exploration? Was this test accurate or totally off base? We will then have a short discussion about their opinions of the personality test. Well Im glad you all felt so strongly about it! Remember to be cognizant of your actions over the weekend so that you can add real examples to your reflection. Youll need to do this for homework, so write this down in your planner! Have a wonderful weekend! Methods of Assessment Todays objectives #1, #2, #3: Students will understand themselves as individuals after reflecting on their personality test results. Their evidence gathered over the weekend will support their initial reflection. Todays objectives #4, #5 Students will take the personality test and record their findings on a Google Doc that they will share with me. In using this technology, they wont have to use a flash drive, and theyll have access to it as long as they have internet. Ill also be able to check it over the weekend without having to wait for class the following week. This promotes urgency and efficiency in and outside the classroom. In Retrospect (Post Lesson Reflection) Im a huge fan of technology in the classroom (even when there are glitches), so this lesson was quite exciting for me! The students seemed to really enjoy the use of technology as theyre familiar and comfortable with it. They werent too fond of the idea that I was aware of whether or not they actually recorded their observations over the weekend thanks to the time stamp Google provides. The self exploration was valuable for all parties, though, regardless! Im glad that I had the students create their own Google Docs and share them with me because I learned from previous lessons that trying to work on one Google Doc can get very tricky, quickly! I found this method to be useful and rewarding, and I look forward to including more technology in the future. Google can be so helpful! Materials Appendix Jungs Personality Test Assignment
