Title of Experience/Artifact: Maturing Adults Clients Lesson/Nutritional Plan Date Experience Completed: Fall 2010

Describe your educational experience/artifact:

I had the opportunity in the fall of 2010 to train a group of faculty member from the University of Wisconsin- Platteville. I was able to assign my clients to a workout and nutrition plan for the first half of the semester. My goal was to use my leadership and knowledge and help my clients achieve their fitness goals.

UW-Platteville Health Promotion Standard Alignment

I believe this artifact best aligns with Collaboration. Collaboration: The health promoter foster relationships with professional colleagues, clients and agencies in the larger community to support client learning and well being. This artifact aligns with my designated standard because I was training University Faculty and local community members. It was a learning experience for me and also for my clients. My instructor felt I connected well with my clients and gave them a relaxing environment where they believed in me and what I was teaching them. I obtained an A from this assignment which was a semester long project. Health and Physical Educations Knowledge, Skill, Disposition Statement Alignment

I think this artifact aligns with KS1.e. I choose this because prior to this workout plan. I met with my clients (4) and just picked their brain as to what they liked and didn't like. I felt this was necessary because I wanted my clients to enjoy their workout and not feel like it was a

chore. I asked questions about their past, favorite workouts and not so favorite activities and then I incorporated it into one and then made a workout plan for all of them. I also think this aligned with Ksd 3. d as well.

Explain what you learned about health promotion from this experience:

I learned that when I use my knowledge acquired from my major and actually apply it to help my clients attain their personal workout goals we were a good team. I was able to build up my leadership and accountability skills and made sure we had fun while accomplishing my clients goals and getting my experience as well.

Explain what you learned about yourself as a prospective health promotion specialist as a result of this experience:

What I have learned from my clients and the experienced I gained is going to benefit my community because I plan on still having some clients to train and im going to start with my family and community volunteers and through that help my community get better and also gain my leadership experience.
